Leo, Individuality and Individualisation

‘Individualisation’ is the name given to the period when human consciousness was born, when humans were transformed from mere members of the animal kingdom to thinking, reasoning beings endowed with what we term ‘soul’. It was a momentous period in the evolution of the planet and occurred over a period of a few million years, some 21 million years ago, upon the continent known as Lemuria – of which Australia is the largest surviving remnant.

Knowledge of human origins is something that has baffled humanity for millenia. When the historical secrets of the ageless wisdom are eventually accepted, humanity will make rapid advances in understanding through many fields of enquiry - akin to the understanding and acceptance of the human soul as well as the subjects of death and reincarnation.

Today humanity find themselves on a higher turn of the evolutionary spiral, where Individualisation has been replaced by initiation – somewhat of a re-enactment of Individualisation. The First Initiation is one in which a large proportion of humanity are undergoing, after many lives of material living, an awakening to the first sense of soul, the Christ within, the true identity. Hence this initiation is appropriately ruled over by Leo and it can be seen as a recapitulation of the earlier period described above when animal man became ‘hu-man’.

This shift in consciousness is causing a revolution upon the planet reflected by much turmoil and conflict, as was the case at Individualisation back in Lemurian times, when many life forms were destroyed, including the dinosaurs:

“At human individualisation in the middle of the third rootrace [Lemuria]. This was produced by a vast destruction of the forms we call animal-man. This point has seldom been brought out in teaching. The advent of the Lords of the Flame, the electrical storm which ushered in the period of man, was distinguished by disaster, chaos, and the destruction of many in the third [animal] kingdom of nature. The spark of mind was implanted and the strength of its vibration, and the immediate effect of its presence caused the death of the animal form, thus producing the immediate possibility of the newly vitalised causal bodies vibrating to such purpose that new physical vehicles were taken. That was the Will aspect manifesting in the fourth round in connection with the human family.” [2]

Leo the fifth sign corresponds to the fifth plane of mind or manas, the mental body part of the aura – Leo’s mane and strength. Much has been written about this in other newsletters and articles. [3]

Suffice to say, the mental evolution of humanity now has its corollary with the individualisation process in Lemuria. An instance of this was the widespread creation of hybrids and monsters created through human and animal interaction. The higher turn of the spiral today may be seen with inappropriate DNA manipulation in the fields of biology, botany and other sciences.

Although there is an awakening for many to a sense of soul, the western lower mind still focusses almost exclusively on that which is concrete and tangible. The penetration into matter through DNA research whilst useful, still reflects a materialistic bias that negates or does not acknowledge the factors of karma and the soul. It is the prideful and arrogant side of Leo that maintains this crystallised viewpoint and dictates much of how the world runs.

However, delving deeply into the DNA structure is an investigation of aspects of the etheric body, the true blueprint of the physical. The eventual exhaustion of this exploration into the etheric-physical will probably lead to the ‘scientific proof’ of the human soul; this has been predicted to be the province of the destiny of France, a fifth ray (science) soul with a Leo personality.[4]

Leo, Sirius and Initiation

In the future the full moon period of Leo will be a major spiritual festival dedicated to the invocation of the forces of Sirius:

“August, which is ruled by Leo, is the month of the Dog-star, or of Sirius, which thus brings Sirius into close relation to Leo. Leo, in the cosmic sense (and apart from our solar system altogether) is ruled by Sirius. Sirius is the home of that greater Lodge to which our fifth initiation admits a man and to which it brings him, as a humble disciple. Later, when the new world religion is founded and is working, we shall find that the major, monthly festival in August, held at the time of the full moon, will be dedicated to the task of making contact, via the Hierarchy, with Sirian force. Each of the months of the year will later be dedicated (through accurate astrological and astronomical knowledge) to whichever constellation in the heavens governs a particular month, as Sirius governs Leo.” [5]

The forces of Sirius therefore, are intimately linked with both the future and our past. The future relates to the time when human liberation (a most Sirian word) is effected. Most of Earth humanity will choose the Sirian Path for their ongoing evolutionary journey:

“…the Sun, Sirius, is closely related to our planetary Life … [there is a] particular relationship of this fourth Path to humanity, the fourth kingdom … a relationship of very ancient date between our Lord of the World, Sanat Kumara, and the Lord of Sirius … our planet … on the inner planes and subjectively considered, is a sacred planet; the effects of this transition from non-sacred to sacred have not fully demonstrated themselves objectively … The majority of liberated humanity, and therefore a large number of the initiates who have to make decision, choose this way [The Sirian Path] to the cosmic centre.” [6]

The point that Earth is a ‘sacred planet’ subjectively is one not that widely realised in esotericism. Sirius and Earth’s past relates to the time of Individualisation when the forces of Sirius were present through both Leo and Gemini:

“At that time the Sun was in Leo … and the Sun was in Gemini when the final crisis of individualisation took place.” [7]

There are some half a dozen zodiac signs related to Sirius in one way or another and,

“Gemini forms a point of entrance for cosmic energy from Sirius.” [8]

The only ray which pours through Gemini is the second ray of Love-Wisdom and this is also a sign of the Cosmic Christ, a dispenser of these forces. One interpretation for the glyph of Gemini (C) is the two pillars of Masonry which guide these forces to Earth:

“Masonry, as originally instituted far back in the very night of time … was organised under direct Sirian influence and modelled as far as possible on certain Sirian institutions and bearing a slight resemblance also to our hierarchical life … Its "Blue Lodge" with its three degrees is related to the three major groups of Lives on Sirius, for there are there no kingdoms of nature, such as we possess; these groups receive all Those Who choose the fourth Path, and train Them in the mode of existence and the type of livingness which is found on Sirius. This will make it plain to you that the least developed of the Sirian Lives are—from our standpoint—all of Them initiates of very high degree.” [9]

‘our hierarchical life’ mentioned in the above passage, is the earthly reflection of the ‘Greater Lodge’ on Sirius. Hence Gemini appropriately completes the process of Individualisation started in Leo:

“The Sun was in Gemini when this Approach was consummated by the founding of the Hierarchy upon the Earth. This is one of the great secrets which the Masonic Rituals typify, for the symbol of the sign, Gemini, is the source of the concept of the two pillars, so familiar to Masons.” [10]

There now exists in the world an order of Masons that has The Tibetan’s teachings at its heart and also admits women. Masonry amongst many other things, through ritual and ceremony, invokes and anchors some of these cosmic forces in order to further the greater Plan. (See this link: www.grandlodgeaum.org/MRM.htm )

So in this solar system of the ‘fourth order’, upon this fourth planetary scheme (Earth), in its fourth chain, fourth globe and fourth round of evolution, the Fourth Path to Sirius has a particular potency. Sirius is to this solar system what the soul is to the personality, hence the Earth has an important part to play as part of that ‘personality’ in this cycle.

Sirius is also known as the ‘great star of initiation’ (because our Hierarchy is under its supervision) and ‘is esoterically called the "brilliant star of sensitivity”’, [11] corresponding also to the sensitivity of Leo:

“… the outstanding theme of Leo is the activity of the self-conscious unit in relation to its environment or the development of sensitive response to surrounding impacts by the one who stands—as the Sun stands—at the centre of its little universe. The whole story and function of Leo and its influences can be summed up in the word "sensitivity," and this sensitivity can be studied in four stages:

1. Sensitivity to conditioning impacts from the environment, i.e., to the impacts of the world of human evolution, the three worlds or planes, through the medium of the three aspects of the response apparatus of the soul;

2. Sensitivity to the will, wishes and desires of the personality, the integrated self-conscious man, the lower self;

3. Sensitivity to the soul as the conditioning factor instead of sensitivity to the environing world as the conditioning factor;

4. The spiritual sensitivity of the God-Man (the soul and personality fused) to the environment. At this stage of unfoldment, the liberated man is not conditioned by his environment but begins the arduous task of conditioning it in relation to the divine plan and purpose and at the same time to cultivating sensitivity to the higher impacts of those worlds which lead to the final goal.” [12]

Hence the alignment between Sirius and Leo in terms of ‘sensitivity’. It is also said that ‘Leo indicates the height of achievement of the human soul … and this is today stimulated by the Shamballa force’.[13] That achievement is measured through the soul having finally dominated the personality and manifesting its true purpose, against the wilful personality with its own agendas. This watermark in evolution is referred to as the Third Initiation, also referred to esoterically as the First Initiation because it opens the individual far more into the consciousness of the solar system as opposed to earthly consciousness.

Fire is the element of Leo and the symbol of the third body, the mental - in its lower aspect the most controlling part of the personality and the ‘king of the beasts’; yet in its higher mental aspect, enthroned as the Leonine sovereign upon the ‘seat of the soul’, conquering the personality.

“The influence of Sirius is not consciously felt until after the third initiation when the true nature of the spirit aspect begins to dawn upon the liberated, intuitive perception of the initiate. For the advanced initiate in this sign [Leo], and after the third initiation, Sirius becomes a major life factor.” [14]

Interestingly, Leo has the first ray of will or power flowing through it, which is the energy of Shamballa, where the Leonine ‘Lord of the World’ resides, Sanat Kumara; this great Being is the One who presides over the Third Initiation. The emphasis upon this initiation theme and Sirius is a reminder that it is very much the goal for all of us who seek to tread the Way:

“I seek the Way; I yearn to know. Visions I see, and fleeting deep impressions.  Behind the Portal, on the other side, lies that which I call home, for the circle hath been well-nigh trod, and the end approacheth the beginning.
I seek the Way. All ways my feet have trod. The Way of Fire calls me with fierce appeal. Naught in me seeks the way of peace; naught in me yearns for earth. Let the fire rage, the flames devour; let all the dross be burnt; and let me enter through that Gate, and tread the Way of Fire." [15]
