Capricorn: Goat, Crocodile and Unicorn
“It is the sign of the Goat which seeks its sustenance in the most rocky and arid of the world’s places and it, therefore, relates man to the mineral kingdom; it is also the sign of the Crocodiles which live half in the water and half on dry land; it is spiritually the sign of the Unicorn which is the “fighting and triumphant creature” of the ancient myths.

Under the symbolism of the above creatures, this sign gives us a rather complete picture of man with his feet upon the earth, yet running free and climbing to the heights of worldly ambition or of spiritual aspiration in search of what he realises (at any particular time) to be his major need.

As the Goat, he is man, the earthly, human, greedy seeker after the satisfaction of desire, or man, the equally selfish aspirant hunting for the satisfaction of his aspiration. This sign portrays to us man, an ambitious animal in two senses of the word: in the early stage upon the Mutable Cross, man, the blend of desire (water) and the animal nature (earth), and upon the reversed wheel, man, the blend of soul and form. It gives us the picture also of the triumphant initiate, the “unicorn of God,” the symbol of the unicorn, with its one horn out-thrust like a single spear upon his brow instead of the two horns of the scavenging goat.”1

The Capricorn Solstice and Initiation
“Solstice” literally means sun stands still – when the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator in winter or summer, depending upon the hemisphere, during the Cancer-Capricorn solar cycle.

The planet is oriented toward the northern pole star Polaris, the “…star of re-orientation … the art of re-facing and recovering that which is lost …”2 Hence, celebrating the winter solstice season globally according to the pole-star orientation, creates an opportunity for powerful invocative meditation.

In these simple celestial sphere diagrams, the ecliptic represents time because its circle describes the year it takes for the Earth to move around the Sun. The zodiac follows this ecliptic, the path of the planets through the heavens.

The equator represents space because it is a division made between the hemispheres. Hence, the intersections between these two circles, the equinoxes and solstices, are where space and time meet. Upon this astrological cardinal cross of Aries-Libra, Cancer-Capricorn lies the possibility of transcending that illusion of space-time; solstices-equinoxes are doorways where alignment with the Eternal Now can take place – on our journey to “nowhere” (Now-Here); being present within the Presence, the Christmas present.

The winter solstice marks the first degree of Capricorn, the Goat. Capricorn is the pinnacle of achievement, where the sure-footed mountain goat has picked its way up the steep and arduous path of Initiation.

The symbolism of the Yule Log in the northern hemisphere as the foundation of the Christmas fire is an astronomical allegory. The “world tree” in many cultures is the axle or pole of the great “cosmic mill” and the pole star Polaris is its “peg”. It depicts the rotation of Earth on an axis oriented to Polaris, as it revolves around the sun.

In this respect, Santa Claus is actually Sanat Kumara, Lord of Shamballa, who tends to his world tree as its axis runs straight through Shamballa, the planetary crown chakra. (He “sleighs” the mind and brings his presence…)

The winter solstice in the northern hemisphere is celebrated as the birth of the Christ or soul, i.e. Christ-mas on December 25th, the last day of this three-day period where the sun “stands still” in its transition from south to north. Capricorn is a sign of perfection (the 10th sign), hence a sign of the Initiate, epitomised by that Piscean Avatar, The Christ or Lord Maitreya.

In ancient Egyptian ritual the candidate for initiation is “raised from dead to life”, the basis for the sarcophagus ritual. The three days of the solstice period are when the candidate’s body is left in the sarcophagus whilst s/he is led through the subtle realms by the guiding Hierophant.

This three-day “transition” period is also symbolic of the third initiation or the transfiguration of the personality, where the mental body is demonstrated to be in complete control over the entire three-fold personality. Capricorn is a sign of mental energy, with the rays of will – 1,3,5,7 pouring through it.

Obviously, the power of the will working through the mental body is a great force that must be handled responsibly, hence Capricorn’s reputation as the black or white magician, the sign of grossest materiality or the most sublime spirituality.

The greatest darkness of winter, just before the increasing light, is a profound symbol of initiation into the Mysteries. Humanity’s perennial search for light is the “goat who seeks the green”, the search for the soul, the true “home” symbolised by polar opposite Cancer. Many traditions have placed great importance upon the solstice through ritual, such as the Celtic Druids and their astronomical “instrument”, Stonehenge.

The solstices and equinoxes reflect a greater cosmic pattern of spiritual law that is available for earthly alignment – the cardinal cross of Aries-Libra, Cancer-Capricorn.

Parallel to human celebrations at these times are the great festivals of angels and devas. The Archangels (Michael, Raphael etc.) assist in the manifestation of spiritual energy upon the Earth. They are in contact with the new impulses generated at solstices and equinoxes, and manifest them into patterns more accessible to humanity, via the buddhic and mental planes of consciousness.

Capricorn, as an earth sign and a sign of magical manifestation, is in some ways the most materialistic and spiritual sign of the zodiac. Hence the dichotomy of Christmas – on the one hand, hijacked by materialistic forces that have replaced its original values with excess and indulgence. Yet on the other hand, there remains a steadfast recognition of the values of love, charity, peace and brotherhood on Earth – albeit, paid scant lip service by many during the Christmas period, with a quick reversion to the old, more comfortable selfish ways afterward.

The Seven-Year Cycle of The New Group of World Servers 2012
Are you a “member” of the New Group of World Servers (NGWS)? Raising awareness about the NGWS has been increasing in recent newsletters, because this group (of which many of you may well be members), is coming into a position of real power and influence in the world:

“The New Group of World Servers is composed at this time of all those sensitive and consecrated servers of the race whose objective is world peace, who aim at the establishing of good will on earth as the basis for future living and world expansion. Originally, this group was composed of a handful of accepted disciples and consecrated aspirants.

Its ranks have been opened … to all those wo/men of good will who are working actively for real understanding, who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the helping of humanity, and who see no separating bar of any kind, but feel alike to the wo/men of all races, nationalities and religions.”4

This group has been cultivated for the past several hundred years, but has only emerged as a coherent entity between the two great wars last century:

“ … the emergence of a band of “conditioning souls”, under the name of the New Group of World Servers, has been possible since 1925. They can now come in because of the work already done by the group of souls who hastened their entrance into incarnation … These souls, because of their point in evolution … because of their impressibility to the group idea and to the Plan, can come into incarnation and begin, more or less, to work out that Plan and evoke a response to it in the human consciousness. They are thus in a position to “prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.”5

As outlined in other writings6, 1925 was an extraordinary year for many reasons, including the transition of all ashrams upon the inner planes to a higher level of consciousness (the buddhic plane); this was the first major shift since Atlantean times where these groups had hitherto maintained their focus upon the mental plane. 1925 was also the year when the Count St. Germain (Master R) assumed the mantle of the Mahachohan, or Lord of Civilisation.

Hence the NGWS emerged as a product of these other events – and as a mediating group between the Great White Brotherhood and Humanity as a whole. In this respect, the NGWS is the ajna or brow chakra within the planetary body:

“The ajna centre of the Lord of the World [Sanat Kumara] is just beginning to express itself in a recognisable manner through the New Group of World Servers. This intermediate group – between the Hierarchy and Humanity – is a carrier of the energy which makes the Plan possible (the Plan of which the Hierarchy is the custodian). This Plan implements the Purpose, and later, when the New Group of World Servers is organised and is recognised as a living organism, it will definitely receive energy from Shamballa in a direct reception, via the Hierarchy.”7

In other words, a human group had emerged for the first time in world history, regarded by the Masters as capable of co-operating consciously with, and implementing the greater Plan. This was an unprecedented event, because earlier there were only isolated individuals and very small groups that could function like this – but not upon the scale that the NGWS has the capacity to now. Their numbers are expanding and they have the capacity as a group to guide Humanity away from the precipice upon which it now teeters.

“These men and women of goodwill must be found and organized and thus discover their numerical potency – for it is there. They must form a world group, standing for right human relations and educating the public in the nature and power of goodwill. They will thus create a world public opinion which will be so forceful and so outspoken on the side of human welfare that leaders, statesmen, politicians, businessmen, and churchmen will be forced to listen and comply. Steadily and regularly, the general public must be taught an internationalism and a world unity which is based on simple goodwill and on cooperative interdependence.”8

“Members of the new group of world servers and men and women of goodwill must be sought for in every department of life. They will be found among the adherents of all the current ideologies and in political and scientific circles, among the world educators and philanthropists, among the creative workers, the industrialists, in ordinary homes and in the ranks of labour.”9

These words were written some seventy years or more ago. Now, through the world wide web and modern technology, there has been a rapid linking-up and consolidation of these many groups, small and large, right around the planet.

The following diagram illustrates the position of the NGWS within the wider context of the three major planetary centres – Shamballa, Hierarchy and Humanity – the head heart and throat centres respectively. It is worth studying this map with care, as it gives much information about where we all fit in the planetary scheme of things.

Bear in mind that the ajna or brow chakra in an individual symbolises the work of bringing soul and personality into alignment. This is quite obvious if we reflect that a member of the NGWS needs to be soul conscious in order to participate in the greater Plan that is intuited.

“The energy of the integrated personality is focussed through the ajna centre, between the eyes; and when the disciple can identify himself with that, and is also aware of the nature and the vibration of his soul energy, then he can begin to work with the power of direction, using the eyes as directing agencies.”10

Extrapolate this to a world group and we witness the power and potential of directed thought blended with goodwill – love in action. The emergence of the NGWS began in 1925 but had its first seminal festival in 1935, as no doubt, a response to the consolidation of fascist forces throughout Europe.

Although the NGWS celebrate Festival Week in Capricorn, they are ruled as a whole by Taurus, who brings about “illumination and attainment of the vision” – via the “bull’s eye” (ajna). Their goal is “providing a centre of light with the world … and … holding up the vision…”. (For more about Taurus, the NGWS and its various cycles, see this newsletter.)

The Seven Year Cycles of the New Group of World Servers
The festival of the NGWS occurs every seven years in Capricorn, a sign ruled by the Lord of Karma, Saturn – whose cycle is seven years. The number 7 is connected to the seventh ray of Ceremonial Order which pours more potently through Capricorn than any other sign in this cycle. As 1925 was the beginning, a little further explanation of the history of the NGWS and its cycles is in order.

“In December, 1935, the energies of Capricorn were augmented by the pouring in of forces from a still greater constellation which is – to our zodiac – what the zodiac is to the earth. This augmentation will take place again in 1942 … By means of this augmentation – during the coming Aquarian zodiacal cycle [next 2,000 years] – groups on earth can avail themselves of the tide of Capricornian influences which will flow into our radius of registration every seven years.

The one just past [1935], gave a tremendous impetus to the work of the New Group of World Servers, and was the cause of the very good reaction in the world to their particular impulse. This worked out in every nation and in every group as a marked tendency to good will.

In 1942, there will come another planetary inflow of which we all are begged to avail ourselves, and for which we are urged to make due preparation. This “week of group impact” occurring every seven years, will run from December 21st till December 28th, and if this should at any time fall at the period of the full moon, the opportunity will be most significant. This possibility must be watched.

This week should be regarded as pre-eminently the “festival week” of the New Group of World Servers, and after 1942 advantage must be taken of this period, and special preparation made.”11

As it happened, there was a full moon during this period (Dec. 22, 1942) in the first degree of Capricorn-Cancer. The NGWS must have “availed themselves” of these potent forces to help reverse the tide of the war – that was going very much the way of the Axis powers up until 1942.

As mentioned frequently in these missives, 1942 was “do or die” for Hierarchy and Humanity; it is mentioned again now, 70 years afterward in 2012 because there is still a war on, most of which is taking place upon the astral and mental planes. Hence the fight is not over. Global light-workers must summon their Will, pledging their efforts anew, to ensure that the scales tip in favour of the Greater Plan. This analogy between 1942 and 2012 cannot be taken lightly. The Tibetan comments,

“The evil forces were closer to success than any of you have ever dreamed. They were so close to success in 1942 that there were four months when the members of the spiritual Hierarchy had made every possible arrangement to withdraw from human contact for an indefinite and unforeseen period of time … we believed that man would go down to defeat, owing to his selfishness and his misuse of the principle of free will. We made all preparations to withdraw, and yet at the same time we struggled to get humanity to choose rightly and to see the issues clearly.

… When the sun moved northward that year (1942), the great White Lodge knew that the battle had been won. Their preparations were halted and the Masters then organised for renewed effort (through Their disciples) to bring about those conditions wherein that which was new and that which was in line with loving divine purpose could freely move forward.

The war was not won by the surrender of Germany. That was only the outer result of inner happenings. The war was won by the Forces of Light when the mental potency of the forces of evil was overcome and the “energy of the future” was directed or impelled by Those Who were seeking the higher human values and the spiritual good of mankind.”12

Hence, when the “sun moved northward” in 1942 – this was directly after the northern hemisphere winter solstice in Capricorn – not only potent for the seven-yearly potencies pouring through, but enhanced and augmented by the full moon occurring at the same time. This was when the “war was won” esoterically. No wonder The Tibetan made his dramatic plea, “you are begged to avail yourselves”! The Hierarchy were observing the war from the inner planes and could see where it was all going; they actually made preparations to withdraw from human contact, an astonishing statement; to leave humanity to its own devices, to wander through the veils of illusion and maya for a longer period.

Well, 70 years on, the world is in a similar situation but it is far more subtle and less obvious to the unawakened masses than it was in 1942. Humanity cannot live in a fool’s paradise, in an aspirational fantasy that everything is alright – despite the fact that the NGWS may have expanded and strengthened its position. Pluto’s transit through Capricorn, conjunct the Sun of the 2012 solstice, symbolically sets the pattern for the approaching 26,000 year cycle – one of drastic regeneration, transformation and ultimately, initiation.

There is a force rising up that could well be identified as a greater emergence of the ranks of the NGWS – those “sensitive and consecrated servers of the race”. The recent “Occupy” movement, many other initiatives and festivals are all an expression of the expansion and consolidation of the NGWS, emerging into a place of greater power and efficacy. When the power of group meditation is blended with the basically sound, altruistic and unselfish motives behind the NGWS, then an indomitable force emerges.

Capricorn is a sign of power and this is greatly augmented by the fact the first ray of will or power passes through it. Yet, as noted earlier, the seventh ray of Ceremonial Magic is a primary ray that can be invoked by the NGWS during the festival week which runs from December 21-28 – culminating with the full moon on the 28th.

The seventh ray is the ray or organisation, of renovation, renewal and revolution. The year 1945 saw the beginning of a 2,500 year cycle of this ray. Now, 70 years since 1942, there is another seven-year NGWS week combined with a full moon. 70 = 7th ray. There have only been two other full moons in the NGWS festival week between 1945 and 2012, and they were in 1963 and 1977.

The seventh ray is the ray of geometry; it concerns the construction of the new geometrical blueprints upon the mental plane, and their precipitation onto the physical plane through meditation and magical group ritual. These new geometrical forms will replace the old outworn ones that were appropriate for another age.

“The seventh ray … is regarded as the “Ray of Ritualistic Decency.” It aids and inaugurates the appearing of a new world order, based on a spiritual drive and on aspiration, mental freedom, loving understanding and a physical plane rhythm which provides opportunity for full creative expression13 … This seventh ray sweeps into organised and directed activity the world of forces upon the outer sphere of manifestation, and produces the precipitation of Karma … [as well as] … The initiation of the aspirants of the world on to the Path of Accepted Discipleship.”14

The NGWS and the Law of Group Progress

“The symbol for this is the mountain with a goat standing on the summit, and again an astrological sign, that of Capricorn, can be noted. All hard places can be surmounted, and the summit reached by the “Divine Goat,” symbol of the group, viewed as a unit.”15

Esoterically the Law of Group Progress is called “the Law of Elevation” for,

“… it concerns the mysteries of group realisation, and expansions of consciousness and the part each unit plays in the general progress of a group … The elevation of a unit results in the raising of the group; the realisation of the unit brings about eventually group recognition; the initiation of the unit leads finally to planetary initiation … their realisation of their essential nature, only in order to offer up the best they have and realise to the interests of the group, are but the methods whereby the work of liberation is carried forward.”16

This theme of “elevation” also concerns the initiate who is admitted to the higher mysteries, the “mystic raising”, the “going up” to town of the Lion (Leo) and the Unicorn (Capricorn). All refer to the defeat of the king of the beasts (the personality) and the triumph of the soul over matter.

Hence, Festival Week of the NGWS in 2012 is a great opportunity for this group to really claim their power and place within the planetary order – to increasingly make a greater difference, influencing global issues.

It is a time for meditators around the planet to not only invoke the forces of the seventh ray during the peace and goodwill period of Christmas, but for some NGWS groups to consciously invoke the Seventh Ray Avatar who works closely with the approaching Avatar of Synthesis.

Invoking the Avatar of Synthesis
At the end of a cycle a new Avatar arrives to bring the message for the next cycle. The Mayan date of December 21, 2012 has created a mass popularised opportunity for conscious souls around the world to invoke this Being into closer rapport. Invocation does not require knowledge about Avatars, but of course an altruistic attitude of serving one’s fellow humanity and transforming the world into one of co-operation, community and universal brotherhood.

The extraordinary importance of Capricorn 2012 concerns,

1. The astronomical end/beginning of a 26,000 year cycle in the Mayan calendar.

2. The annual solstice whose north pole-star symbolism concerns light reaching into and anchoring in darkest matter.

3. The seven-year cycle of the NGWS Festival Week, particularly potent because of a rare coincidence of the Capricorn full moon.

4. The invocation of the seventh ray of Ceremonial Magic by meditating world groups.

5. The subsequent invocation of the “Avatar of the Seventh Ray”.

6. The chain effect of the invocation of the even greater, “Avatar of Synthesis” who is intimately connected to the NGWS and, is an avatar upon the first ray of will-power.

7. The subsequent appearance of the Avatar for the new Aquarian precession cycle of the next 2,160 years.

The mystical propaganda about the Mayan calendar, aligning with the centre of the Milky Way galaxy, the prophecies etc, are all part of a sideshow leading to the main event – the coming of the Avatar of Synthesis.

It is an event that will be the successful outcome of a massed invocation – mainly unconscious but increasingly conscious – to draw this being into a greater participation with earth life. The message of this Avatar for the next 26,000 year cycle will and must come through the NGWS. A greater cosmic being known as the Spirit of Peace, will work through the Avatar of Synthesis:

“His activity [Spirit of Peace] is necessarily a mass activity, for He can only channel His energies through the mass consciousness or through a group conscious entity, such as the Hierarchy, the United Nations or Humanity. The focal point of His effort and the Agent through which distribution of His energy can be made is the New Group of World Servers; this group is uniquely related to this Avatar of Synthesis.

The bringing together of all the agents of goodwill … constitutes the major objective of the New Group of World Servers and always has been … Their task is to usher in the New Age; in that New Age, the five Kingdoms in Nature will begin to function as one creative whole.”17

That New Age is the Aquarian precession cycle, hence the gradual emergence of the NGWS over the past few hundred years – on the cusp of the ages. In the mystery teachings there is a “Doctrine of Avatars” that describes the various functions of these divine messengers and prophets, how their impulses aid in Earth evolution. These avatars ensure a continuity of revelation for Humanity, who at cyclic points of crisis, need the inspiration to release themselves from the old cycle and embrace the new.

In Sanskrit, Avatar literally means, “coming down from far away”. Indeed, the origin of many of these avatars is a mystery to the Masters of Wisdom and the Planetary Gods themselves! It is all They can do to recognise, align and cooperate with these Avatars – in aiding some new dispensation of energy to humanity:

“They express whole cycles of future development within Themselves and strike the note and give the teaching which will bring in a new age and a new civilisation; They embody great truths towards which the masses … must work and which still constitute an objective to the greatest minds of the age, even though as yet unrealised.”18

There are various types of avatars and they often co-operate with one another in a way where one avatar overshadows another. There are avatars of constellations, “divine embodiments”, transmitting avatars, the Kalki Avatar, the “lesser avatar”, ray avatars, teaching avatars and racial avatars. There will be various methods used to harness the energy of an avatar, such as over-shadowing or inspiration; in the instance of a Master or the Christ, by the Avatar of Synthesis; in the case of an aspirant or disciple, impressed by the “lesser avatar”. If these alignments can be achieved on multi-levels simultaneously, then the flow of the new impulses has great potential:

“This possible dual event – the coming of the Avatar of Synthesis to the Hierarchy and of the lesser Avatar, His Representative, to humanity – can be a probable happening if the world disciples and aspirants measure up to the opportunity.”19

“The Spirit of Synthesis, working through the great first ray Avatar (the Avatar of Synthesis) is closer to the Earth than ever before … the tendency to integration can therefore be more easily fostered and a new synthesis attained … Before … integration and synthesis are possible, this first ray energy must work to destroy all that prevents integration and all that is hindering a needed synthesis. Human beings themselves must also destroy the prejudices, the animosities and the fixed ideas which have prevented synthesis, which have created cleavages and hindered right understanding.

The Avatar of Synthesis … is coming to the Earth in order to further the manifestation of unity, of oneness and of inter-relation … to wield and apply first ray energy. He will charge or galvanise the … New Group of World Servers – with dynamic energy … so that a new synthesis and alignment will be present upon the Earth.”20

It is worth bearing in mind that the spiritual “note” sounded by this Avatar will, “only be sensed by those whose individual note is also synthesis and whose life objective is the will-to-good.”21

The increasing use of the word “avatar” in popular culture, such as a personal “avatar” in an online game, or the movie, “Avatar”, may well indicate a mass consciousness impression that the Spirit of Synthesis is “closer to the Earth than ever before”. Indeed, the movie does indicate an eschewing of the old culture and the emergence of a collective consciousness that is the seed of a new race, based upon “world peace and the establishing of good will as the basis for future living and world expansion”.

The Mayan Prophecy 2012: The Avatar Quetzalcoatl

After all the information about the coming avatars, 2012 may well be an anti-climax! Much has been written about the Mayan prophecies and 2012. We must bear in mind that the Mayans, like the Egyptians, were part of this Fifth Rootrace (its second subrace). They were a bridging race between ancient Atlantis and this rootrace. Through their heritage, their role today serves to point the way to the Sixth Rootrace and its emergence in South America – a race that will recapitulate much of the karma and development of Atlantean times. Suffice to say, the Mayan deity known as Quetzalcoatl is the Meso-American Christ, the Avatar in one of its many guises:

“Both were considered to be men who ascended into heaven upon their death; Christ to sit at the right hand of God, Quetzalcoatl to become the Morning Star [Venus]. Both were tempted by evil powers; Christ by Satan, Quetzalcoatl by the wizard-god Tezcatlipoca. And both were prophesied to one day return to earth, Christ as the Prince of the Kingdom of Heaven, Quetzalcoatl as a god-king returned to claim his kingdom in Central Mexico.”22

The symbolism of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent devouring a human, concerns the blending of consciousness and the eventual raising of awareness of all humanity, “unto the measure of the fullness of the stature of the Christ”.

We move into an era where Humanity the Avatar is about to emerge; the “Divine Goat,” symbol of the group as a unit, is about to claim the mountain top, its sacred heritage and right to direct its own destiny, according to the universal laws imparted to it.

The New Group of World Servers will be the new World Saviour and from that point on, humanity will have more control over its destiny – without the need for Divine Intervention or, “someone to save us, someone to follow”. May we all keep treading the higher path, deferring the circuitous route, taking the steep but rapid way to self-rule!

Appendix

1. Avatar of a constellation. “Once in the history of each scheme, an avatar from the constellation Capricorn appears on mental levels. This level is the lowest one on which these interplanetary deities appear. No more can be communicated on this matter. “The mystery of the goat” lies hidden here. These interplanetary avatars come in, as the products of much earlier kalpas when systemic conditions are refined enough to permit of Their appearance.”23

In other words, this avatar has been with us since the Moon chain evolution and will be a long way into the future, assisting with the overall stimulation of manas or mind.

2. Divine Embodiments. Rarely appear and transmit via Shamballa. Can only be reached by the united voices of Hierarchy and Humanity calling them forth. An example of them are the so-called “Lords of Liberation”, invoked in that critical period of 1942.24 Avatar of Synthesis.

3. Transmitting Avatars. Drawn forth by humanity – the Buddha and the Christ are outstanding examples. Can “act as Transmitters of certain cosmic principles which – focussed in Them in an extra-planetary sense – could stimulate the deeply hidden and latent corresponding principle in humanity.”25

4. Kalki Avatar or “lesser avatar”. “The Rider on the White Horse. In the earlier cycle, the then initiates spoke of the “sacrificial horse, slain to all eternity.” … This Avatar can descend to the physical plane and there appear, to lead His people – as the Prince Who leads through war to peace.”

“When the close of the Kali-age shall be nigh, a portion of that divine being which exists, of its own spiritual nature . . . shall descend on Earth … endowed with the eight superhuman faculties. … He will re-establish righteousness on earth, and the minds of those who live at the end of Kali-Yuga shall be awakened and become as pellucid as crystal. The men who are thus changed … shall be the seeds of human beings, and shall give birth to a race who shall follow the laws of the Krita-age, the age of purity” (Vishnu Purana 4:24).

“… esoterically related to the Avatar of Synthesis, being overshadowed by Him. This Avatar can descend on to the physical plane into outer expression and can thus step down and transmit the stimulation and quality of the force of the greater Avatar Who can come no nearer than the mental plane.”

5. Ray Avatars. “Come forth at relatively long intervals when a ray is coming into manifestation … embody the quality and the force of a particular ray. Next century [this century], when the seventh ray has achieved complete manifestation and the Piscean influence is entirely removed, the seventh ray Avatar will appear. His work will demonstrate the law, order and rhythm of the creative process as it works out on the physical plane, blending spirit and matter.

And as this ray is called the Ray of Ceremonial Order or Ritual, He will be largely instrumental in producing those conditions which will permit of the reappearance upon Earth of the Mysteries of Initiation, of which the Hierarchy is the custodian. He is necessarily connected with the Great White Lodge on Sirius. This fact does not, however, concern us now, for we await the coming of a still greater Avatar.”26

The Avatar of Synthesis is an avatar on the first ray line.

6. Teaching Avatars. “These Appearances sound a new note in the realm of thought and of consciousness … Such Avatars were Plato, the first Patanjali and Sankaracharya; they emerge upon the second ray line of energy…”27

7. Racial Avatars. “These Appearances are evoked by the genius and destiny of a race. … Such a man was Abraham Lincoln, coming forth from the very soul of a people, and introducing and transmitting racial quality – a quality to be worked out later as the race unfolds.”28
