Pisces, Pluto and Shamballa
In this cuspal period of the astrological age of Pisces moving into Aquarius, it is important to understand the power of Pluto – as the soul or esoteric ruler of Pisces and ruler of the first ray of will or power.
Pluto precipitates the process of transmutation and eventual liberation through death that is bought about upon all levels: Dying to old ideas, emotions and even physical death itself. Pluto the Destroyer (Kali) brings about the death of the personality with all its desires and which holds a person in bondage between the pairs of opposites upon the mental, astral and physical planes.
The great world wars of last century were certainly an expression of Pluto’s purging power toward the end of the Piscean Age – that finished WWII with the ultimate Plutonian devastation – the dropping of the atomic bomb.
Jupiter, personality or exoteric ruler of Pisces and ruler of the second ray of love wisdom, expresses this sign’s natural outgoing love nature and is responsible for its psychic sensitivity – also one of its major problems. Jupiter is that magnetic force which causes the “lure of the Path”, responsible for a person stepping off the mutable cross of matter onto the fixed cross of the soul – an momentous event which occurs quite late in the symbolic 777 incarnations of a human being.
Hence Pisces is a curious mixture of these two ray forces yet ultimately its expression is upon the second ray love-wisdom line, as rays two and six (Idealism, devotion) are the only ones that pour through it. The Master Djwhal Khul relates the following about Pisces:
“It is in this dual sign that the imprisoned soul and the personality enter upon that process which will transmute,
1. The lower nature into the higher manifestation.
2. The lower psychical powers into the higher spiritual faculties, i.e.
a. Negativity into positive soul control.
b. Mediumship into mediatorship.
c. Clairvoyance into spiritual perception.
d. Clairaudience into mental telepathy and finally inspiration.
e. Instinct into intellect.
f. Selfishness into divine selflessness.
g. Acquisitiveness into renunciation.
h. Self-preservation into selfless world service.
i. Self-pity into compassion, sympathy and divine understanding.
3. Spiritual and mental inhibition into soul expression and mental sensitivity.
4. Devotion to the needs of the self into developed devotion and response to the needs of humanity.
5. Attachment to environment and to personality conditions (identification with form) into detachment from form and ability to identify with the soul.”1
The “imprisoned soul and the personality” can be regarded as the two fishes that are tethered together in Pisces, swimming around and around. It is Pluto’s task to cut the band that keeps the fishes bound in matter and through Venus’s exaltation in Pisces, to “reunite the severed lives but with no binding thread”.
The fishes symbology also reminds us of the “Fish goddesses” of Pisces and the “Earth goddesses” of Virgo, its polar opposite – especially at the full moon period where the Moon in Virgo is opposite the Sun in Pisces. They are polar opposites and their functions are interchangeable. Virgo and Pisces are the “alpha and omega” (beginning and end) and relate to the start of the journey in matter and our final liberation from it.
Hence Pisces is a sign associated with liberation at the end of a soul’s journey, and through the first ray influence of Pluto, is associated with the crown chakra of the planet, Shamballa:
“In Pisces, the influence of Shamballa claims the initiate as its field of activity and the dualism of soul and spirit emerges – instead of that of soul and body which has hitherto been of major importance. The power of the form to hold the soul in captivity has been negated and tests and trials of the initiate up to the third initiation are directed to this end.”2
Likewise then, on the yearly wheel, the month of Pisces affords us the opportunity to release and relinquish the “captivities and bondages” that we may have accumulated in the past year, whether they be ideas or people. Pisces prepares us for the beginning of the new spiritual year in the next sign of Aries, hence we can “clear the decks” – of our boats (soul vessels) rocking upon the Pisces seas.
As Pisces is a sign of great emotional sensitivity (oceans of emotion!), Pluto’s process is closely associated with the solar plexus centre, working closely with Mars, one of the rulers of this chakra, directing these forces to the heart; hence the symbology suggested for Pluto’s new glyph: an up-pointed arrow.
Exoterically Pisces has a dark side; as one of the signs of the mutable cross it governs mass consciousness as does its co-ruler Neptune. Pisces can be a sign of deception and secretiveness – tapping into the currents of the astral plane and manipulating those forces. This can range all the way from holding others in emotional bondage and control, to subversive activity through spying, or mass manipulation through propaganda. Many of these traits are associated with Scorpio, another water sign which is co-ruled by Pluto; so although Pluto is “soul ruler” of Pisces, it has its lower octave expression.
Pisces-Aquarius Corporations, Rupert Murdoch and Fox News
A phenomenon of the twentieth century is the growth of corporations, many of whom in their early developmental stages can be considered greedy, rapacious and manipulative of the masses – the latter of which is governed by two water signs, Cancer and Pisces. Hence these type of corporate entities constitute part of the shadow expression of Aquarius as we move into this astronomical cycle from Pisces for the next 2160 years. Both Aquarius and Pisces relate to large corporate entities or institutions wherein the individual finds his or her place. In the latter part of the age of Pisces these groups have assumed undue control:
“First of all, it must be recognized that the cause of all world unrest, of the world wars which have wrecked humanity and the widespread misery upon our planet can largely be attributed to a selfish group with materialistic purposes who have for centuries exploited the masses and used the labour of mankind for their selfish ends. From the feudal barons of Europe and Great Britain in the Middle Ages through the powerful business groups of the Victorian era to the handful of capitalists – national and international – who today [1940’s] control the world’s resources, the capitalistic system has emerged and has wrecked the world.
This group of capitalists has cornered and exploited the world’s resources and the staples required for civilized living; they have been able to do this because they have owned and controlled the world’s wealth through their interlocking directorates and have retained it in their own hands. They have made possible the vast differences existing between the very rich and the very poor; they love money and the power which money gives; they have stood behind governments and politicians; they have controlled the electorate; they have made possible the narrow nationalistic aims of selfish politics; they have financed the world businesses and controlled oil, coal, power, light and transportation; they control publicly or sub rosa the world’s banking accounts.
The responsibility for the widespread misery to be found today in every country in the world lies predominantly at the door of certain major interrelated groups of business-men, bankers, executives of international cartels, monopolies, trusts and organizations and directors of huge corporations who work for corporate or personal gain. They are not interested in benefiting the public except in so far that the public demand for better living conditions will enable them – under the Law of Supply and Demand – to provide the goods, the transportation, light and power which will in the long run bring in heavier financial returns. Exploitation of man-power, the manipulation of the major planetary resources and the promotion of war for private or business profit are characteristic of their methods.
In every nation, such men and organizations – responsible for the capitalistic system – are to be found. The ramifications of their businesses and their financial grasp upon humanity were, prior to the war [WWII], active in every land and though they went underground during the war, they still exist. They form an international group, closely interrelated, working in complete unity of idea and intention and knowing and understanding each other. These men belonged to both the Allied Nations and the Axis Powers; they have worked together before and through the entire period of the war through interlocking directorates, under false names and through deceptive organizations, aided by neutrals of their own way of thinking.
Today, in spite of the disaster which they have brought upon the world, they are again organized and renewing their methods; their goals remain unchanged; their international relationships remain unbroken; they constitute the greatest menace mankind faces today; they control politics; they buy prominent men in every nation; they insure silence through threat, cash and fear; they amass wealth and buy a spurious popularity through philanthropic enterprise; their families live soft and easy lives and seldom know the meaning of God-ordained work; they surround themselves with beauty, luxury and possessions and shut their eyes to the poverty, stark unhappiness, lack of warmth and decent clothing, the starvation and the ugliness of the lives of the millions by whom they are surrounded; they contribute to charities and church agencies as a salve to their consciences or to avoid income taxes; they provide work for countless thousands but see to it that these thousands receive so small a wage that real comfort, leisure, culture and travel are impossible.
The above is a terrible indictment. It can, however, be substantiated a thousand times over; it is breeding revolution and a growing spirit of unrest. The masses of the people in every land are aroused and awakening and a new day is dawning. A war is starting between the selfish monied interests and the mass of humanity who demand fair play and a right share of the world’s wealth.”3
Well not much has changed since this was written in the 1940’s although there is now a greater public awareness of the problem. Recent documentaries (Farenheit 911, Outfoxxed etc) have revealed seemingly indisputable proof of the extent for instance to which the Bush family dynasty were involved in doing business with the Germans in WWII.
Shocking stuff to be sure, and it recalls part of the quote above: “These men belonged to both the Allied Nations and the Axis Powers; they have worked together before and through the entire period of the war through interlocking directorates, under false names and through deceptive organizations, aided by neutrals of their own way of thinking … the promotion of war for private or business profit are characteristic of their methods.” IBM was supposedly another company “doing business with the enemy”.
The type of individuals involved in these kind of activities I once dubbed “recalcitrant4 moon-chainers”. In other writings I have explained that most souls incarnate upon Earth today “individualised” (started evolving mind), either upon a previous evolution within the Earth Scheme’s evolution, called the Moon Chain, or upon this current Earth Chain.
Because this previous evolution was much older, generally speaking most “Moon Chainers” are spiritually older than Earth chain souls and have a far greater developed intelligence. They therefore have a greater spiritual responsibility in many ways, yet there is a group of them who have refused to move forward and use the developed mind in a most selfish way. It is proposed that most of the individuals and groups mentioned in the quote above, belong to this group.
It is this author’s contention that one of the prominent members of this group today is media magnate and Pisces Sun, Rupert Murdoch. His methods have never been socially uplifting and he has made much of his fortune on Sunday tabloid newspapers; he has also been a ruthless suppressor of unions and worker’s rights during the British newspaper picket lines of 1986:
“First. The 700 incarnations.5 For advanced man at this time these incarnations took place upon the moon chain and in some cases upon certain planets connected with the inner round … Men of this type refused to incarnate earlier, as the bodies were too coarse; … No real “sin” was committed; it was their privilege to discriminate, and this refusal has its bearing upon conditions upon Earth, being the basis of the great class distinctions which – in every land – have been so fruitful of trouble and the esoteric foundation of the “caste” system, so abused now in India. The problem of labor and capital has its roots in the subjective distinction between “equipped and unequipped” Egos, between those units of the human family on earth who have passed out of the Hall of Ignorance, and those who are yet groping in its dark and gloomy corridors … ”6
Murdoch’s naked ambition is reflected by his Capricorn ascendant and his urge to ruthlessly influence and control is symbolised by Saturn in Capricorn opposite Pluto, planet of power and ruler of the first ray. If we cast our minds back a few years we may recall that it was a long Saturn-Pluto opposition that provided the backdrop for events that transpired around 9/11.
Pluto is placed in the aforementioned sign of mass consciousness, Cancer, and is trine to his Pisces Sun – which Pluto rules esoterically – giving him tremendous power. Saturn opposite Pluto therefore provides a very strong link between his personality and soul. But one has to ask the question, what is this individual’s soul purpose?; to make as much money as possible without regard for “dumbing down the culture”, for shamelessly influencing politics through his media outlets?
Did Murdoch get his “soul brief” wrong in that he failed to work out the dynamics of the challenging Saturn-Pluto opposition in this life? – i.e. learning about the right use of power; or does he work for the “materialistic forces” of the planet – consciously or unconsciously?
One has to wonder about Murdoch’s motives, particularly in light of the Fox News channel, part of his massive media empire Newscorp. Newscorp’s ruthless march toward world domination and political manipulation through its newspapers and media is a story in itself but will not be focused upon here. Murdoch has recently taken out American citizenship which will boost power and influence immeasurably in that nation.
Some say that Murdoch “is a front for far more powerful super-rich subversives ” … Murdoch is just an ambitious midget who has been given the job of drawing all the public attention away from those who make the real decisions.”7 This theory goes all the way to speculations about his prior knowledge of 9/11 and so forth.
Newsletters and articles by this author over the past two years have discussed at length the current transit of Pluto over America’s Mars in Gemini. Mars in Gemini could be named the “media signature” in terms of its aggressive story hunting, ceaseless speculation, invasive tactics, spin doctoring and so on. Gemini has several similarities to Pisces in terms of impressionability, duality and deception – which is partly due to Mercury’s generic rulership of the mutable cross – to which these two signs belong. Mercury’s lower octave expression is the thief-trickster.
Pluto’s current transit of America’s Mars is exposing some of the nation’s “mis-media” as well as reflecting major power players for media control. Murdoch’s Fox News Corporation is a major case in point, creating a critical problem of bias and misrepresentation in the media.
It is interesting that the numerology of FOX is 6 6 6. The fox is certainly a cunning animal and of course 666 is “the Beast”. The numeral 6 is a glyph which describes the descent of spirit into the physical realm and that which curls around and anchors itself into matter:
” … 666 is regarded as the number of the Beast or of materialism, the number of the dominance of the three worlds prior to the process of reorientation and the expression of developed idealism and purpose. The third aspect [matter] expresses itself through pure materialism, and hence the three sixes. In an ancient book on numbers the initiate is defined as “the one who has experienced and expressed 666 and found it naught; who has dropped the 6 and become the 66, and thus has found himself upon the WAY; later, again, he drops the 6 and becomes the perfected 6 – form, the instrument and expression of spirit.””8
” … the clue to the mystery of the “mark of the beast” which is 666. This is the number of the active intelligent man and distinguishes his form nature from his spiritual nature which is 999.”9
Fox News’ catch-cry is “fair and balanced reporting”, yet it somewhat ludicrously and blatantly expresses exactly the opposite: unfairness and bias. Anyone who has tuned into Fox News will know what is meant here, with the general culture and catchphrases amongst its journalists, not least its main anchor man Bill “shut-up” O’Reilly; he regularly tells guests to “shut-up” if the interview is not going to his agenda, even resorting in one instance to saying, “cut his mike”!
The chart for the first broadcast of Fox News is for October 5, 1996. A Libran Sun, known for its “fair and balanced” approach to life. Hmmmm. Unfortunately the Libra Sun squares Jupiter, making for a personality prone to gross exaggeration and telling tall stories!
Furthermore, Venus, the ruler of the Libran Sun, is placed in Virgo, sign of (exoterically) the scholarly critical mind, discrimination and analysis. Yet Venus in turn makes a difficult square to Pluto, “lord of the underworld” and all that has been mentioned heretofore. Venus square Pluto is an aspect which is intensely involved with balancing the pairs of opposites upon the mental plane, both planets esoterically associated with the mental body. The usual discrimination and mental intricacies of Venus in Virgo are here distorted by the force of Pluto in Sagittarius and perverted to the cause of another agenda.
Bear in mind also that esoteric astrology recognises all entities at various stages of unfoldment. The expression of the same planet in the same sign can widely vary according to that entity’s consciousness.
Yet the most telling aspect in the whole chart is the position of Moon in Cancer (mass consciousness) opposing Neptune (which rules Cancer esoterically), planet of illusion and fantasy, the smoke and mirrors of adverting agencies and propagandists. So there we have the nuts and bolts of this charming organisation, though not the kind of charm one usually associates with Libra.
Bill O’Reilly an Roger Ailes
Bill O’Reilly’s chart (Sept 10, 1949, New York. Time unknown) has Sun and Saturn in critical Virgo whilst Virgo’s ruler Mercury is placed in Libra conjunct Neptune, ideally positioned to be a spin-doctor lackey! Furthermore O’Reilly’s Mercury-Neptune conjunction sits right on Fox’s Libra Sun. Fox’s son is in Fox’s Sun.
O’Reilly also possesses an aggressive (if not downright nasty) Aries Moon square to Jupiter in Capricorn, which can make for forcefulness, exaggeration and imperiousness – no wonder the man is so widely hated as the face of Fox.
Roger Ailes (15 May 1940. Warren, OH. Time unknown) is the founder and president of Fox, who “was for decades one of the savviest and most pugnacious Republican political operatives in Washington, a veteran of the Nixon and Reagan campaigns. Ailes is most famous for his role in crafting the elder Bush’s media strategy in the bruising 1988 presidential race. With Ailes’ help, Bush turned a double-digit deficit in the polls into a resounding win … ”10
Ailes is a Sun in Taurus conjunct Uranus with a Moon in early Virgo around Fox’s aforementioned Venus in Virgo. His Mars is in Gemini is the same as America’s. Ailes’ Neptune in Virgo aligns with Fox’s Mercury in Virgo by only a couple of degrees; this is not unlike O’Reilly’s Mercury-Neptune alignment in Libra and bodes well for his influence.
Strangely enough, the arch-director of the whole show, Murdoch, has his Pisces Sun and Mercury in Pisces aligned opposite Ailes’ Neptune, O’Reilly’s Sun and Fox’s Mercury! This is a powerful alignment for the “chain of command” to work – influencing politics and so forth.
Considering Ailes’ previous work, along with Murdoch’s influence, Fox news is a vehicle for the Republicans to dish up their propaganda and is a shameful presence in American culture. One might well ask how was such an organisation allowed to come into being? When considered in light of the previous material on the cartels and businesses that have influenced the world during WWII and before, it is not difficult to see this same group of people’s huge influence upon the the whole planet, let alone the West.
Hence Pluto’s progress will be interesting to watch in 2005 as it makes one last stationary aspect over Amercia’s Mars from July to November but particularly during late August and September. If ever there was an opportunity to expose media corruption, that period will be the last opportunity.
