USA’s full moon progression and transits, August 9, 2025.
Freedom and liberty for the world.
This full moon for August 9, 2025 has a particular relevance for the USA, as indicated in the transits and progressions chart below. Enumeration of the main points:
1. Transiting Jupiter conjunct USAs’ Sun in Cancer which is conjunct Sirius, so prominent in the month of August, Leo. The founding fathers, Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson were known to have an interest in astrology – often consulting astrological charts to make important decisions; some were Masons, where the tradition of Sirius as theis well-known.
Hence, the timing of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, (date of the US horoscope) was most likely influenced by the celestial alignment of Sirius and the invocation of the Spirit of Freedom.

2. The soul ray of the USA is the Sun/Jupiter-ruled second ray of Love-Wisdom. Therefore, the impact of Jupiter exactly conjunct USA’s Sun at this Aug.9 full moon, is a strong stimulus for the soul of the nation to shine forth. Jupiter is also the ruler of the 1776 chart’s Sagittarius ascendant.
3. Transiting Venus in Cancer conjunct USA’s Cancer sun. Venus is within a few degrees conjunction to transiting Jupiter, amplifying the power of its conjunction to USA’s Cancer sun/Sirius. Venus is regarded as the “sister planet to Earth”, influential at the time of humanity’s seeding of consciousness in ancient times.
4. The 12-year cycle of USA’ Jupiter return occurred right on the recent Cancer new moon 2025, conjunct the Sun-Moon but also its own position in Cancer – the USA’s 20th Jupiter return. The symbolism of 20/2 is also apt for the 2nd ray soul of the nation.
The 1776 horoscope is not the true esoteric one – which is really Aquarius rising with a Gemini Sun. However, it is a relevant chart that contains strong elements of Aquarius and Gemini, which the author has worked with for a long time, using it as an interface for USA’s known soul and personality rays (2/6).
5. Cardinal Grand Cross: Jupiter-Venus, Saturn, Earth, progressed Moon. The key tension in this grand cross is the activation of natal Sun in Cancer square to Saturn in Libra.
Sun square Saturn can often indicate a hard line approach to law, such as the “rules-based order” mantra, “three strikes and you’re out”, the privatisation of the US prison system – or draconian laws relating to the arrest of public protestors.
Justice
Saturn in Libra is exalted in this sign, symbolising the foundational US Constitution, amplifying the theme of Libra’s scales of justice. This idealism (or propaganda) was promoted in the 1950’s Superman TV series with the WWII patriotic mantra: “Truth, justice and the American way”. (Shades of Nietzsche’s Superman here, American individualism and exceptionalism.)
Therefore, the challenge for blending USA’s 2nd ray soul purpose and the Sirian liberation theme, must overcome the lower expression of Saturn in Libra, invoking its higher note of justice and fairness – of following the higher laws and principles that are reflected in our earthly laws.
Further tension to Saturn in this grand cross comes from the 27-year cycle of the progressed Moon – currently in Aries: 3-4 months away from making an exact square to USA’s Sun in Cancer, and opposition to Saturn in Libra. But both aspects are well within orb of influence on Aug.9, super-charged by the power of the full moon.
Hence, some high tensions – between now and the end of 2025, regarding national and international law, the flouting of which has been increasing in recent years.

6. August 9 is the 80th anniversary of the second nuclear bomb on Nagasaki in 1945. This date may be a sobering reminder in this current age of reckless nuclear sabre-rattling between USA and Russia, or Israel’s atomic arsenal “elephant in the room”.
7. Fixed Grand Cross: Mercury-Pluto, SA Moon, SP Venus. Mercury in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius is a key component here – powerful and persuasive communication and negotiations – for better or worse. For better, enunciating principles with great clarity and spiritual authority.
For worse (the point of least resistance), issuing dictatorial edicts, a “might is right” approach – compounded by Mercury’s conjunction to USA’s north node in Leo.
The other two points of this grand cross, see solar arc Moon/SP Saturn in Scorpio, opposite progressed Venus in Taurus. Here, the theme of territory acquisition stands out (Taurus), taking it by force (Scorpio-Pluto) e.g. Greenland, Panama, Ukraine, the “Greater Israel” proxy etc.
8. Cardinal T-Square: Mars-MC, Saturn-Neptune, Venus-Jupiter. Prominent in this configuration is Mars in Libra on USA’s midheaven. Mars, the god of war in the sign of peace, prominent in the horoscopes of Nobel Peace Prize laureates such as the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela.
An “inner disarmament” must take place to effect outer peace – which means the withdrawal of USA’s constant antagonisms toward other nations – projection of its own unresolved national issues onto the world at large.
Mars closely opposes Saturn-Neptune in Aries – in one of their relatively rare conjunctions. This is a kind of mutual reception where Mars tenants the opposite sign of its Aries rulership, while Saturn sits in the sign opposite its place of exaltation in Libra. Saturn in Aries offers further restraint upon Mars’ already somewhat restrained position, while Neptune at its best – provides a vision of what ideals can be achieved.
This Mars opposition to Saturn-Neptune, T-squares natal Venus-Jupiter in Cancer. Again, Jupiter the ruler of USA’s second ray soul is prominent once more, along with natal Venus in Cancer.
As always, there are two possibilities of interpretation. The higher path is the USA moving into a deeper recognition of its soul purpose, to be a world leader into the Aquarian Age. (Jupiter, esoteric ruler of USA’s Aquarian soul.)
The lower path (and again, the point of least resistance) – is a selfish focus upon itself, regarding the appropriation of resources and land (Cancer) or furthering the expression of Jingoism: “Nationalism in the form of aggressive and proactive foreign policy, or excessive bias in judging one’s own country as superior to others.”2

About Nietzsche’s Superman, Ken Wapnick, teacher and editor of A Course In Miracles (transmitted from Jesus), did a presentation on Nietzsche, wherein he described the “uberman” as not a physical superman, but actually a spiritual one. The three stages of awakening he described as “camel, lion, and little child.” The first, ‘obeying’ the world’s ‘rules’ (camel, also dragon with scales that said “thou shalt!”), working against the restrictive/repressive norms (lion), and finally as a spontaneous “child” (Christ child – fully awake). It was Nietszche’s sister that interpreted his work to support the Nazi “superman” idea, but it was quite the opposite actually.
