The Sun is Exalted in Aries
The end of the zodiacal year has come around again with the passing of the Sun from Pisces into Aries; it signals the equinox, where equal night and day prevail, where darkness and light are held in abeyance or balance – symbol of Libra, polar opposite to Aries; this Aries-Libra relationship will be accentuated at the full moon solar festival in Aries on March 31.
The Sun is exalted in Aries, representing the first golden rays of the sun that peer over the horizon at dawn, heralding a new day, a fresh start, a new idea or thoughtform that can propel itself in a particular direction:
“Here the Sun stands for the life of the spirit which comes to full expression as the result of the great evolutionary process, initiated in Aries. The life of God which in this sign is “swung into activity” eventually achieves consummation. Latency becomes potency and midnight merges into midday. God, the Father, rules.”1
“God” can be interpreted as one’s “personal God” – the soul, or the Monad (God the Father), that original essence that utilises the soul as its vehicle. “Latency” is that which is held in potential and limitless creativity that can be activated, leading it to “potency”.
“Midnight merging into midday” is a deeply esoteric passage that refers to the darkness of midnight (deepest indigo blue bordering on black), the latency of the infinite that finds its potency in the finite – the human being at midday aligned to the sun overhead, that has reached its zenith or maximum power.
The Aries theme of new beginnings and hence limitless possibilities, is evident when considering nuclear reactions that take place within the sun; where nuclei merge to create others, emulating the type of reaction that powers a hydrogen bomb; except the process is fusion, not fission. Midnight is also the “dark before the dawn”, the darkness that precedes illumination.
Therefore, the symbolism of Aries is given to the rising sign or ascendant in the personal birth horoscope. The rising sign is determined by the exact moment of the first breath – when the soul incarnates in a new body. Hence, in Esoteric Astrology the rising sign is the soul potential that can be unfolded in any incarnation. For the majority of humanity, the rising sign simply remains a mask of personality expression, without accessing its deeper potentials.
2018 Solar Ingress and Mars in Capricorn
Likewise, for the world as a whole – each new year in Aries holds in potentia planetary soul purpose, hence the “solar ingress” horoscope that is erected for when that exact moment occurs.
Note that the rising sign will be different for London or New York, as “capitals” of the Western nations.
A key pattern in this ingress horoscope is a T-square between the Sun and the Earth to Mars in Capricorn, a formation that is similarly repeated in the full moon horoscope 11 days later. Mars is exalted in Capricorn and in the undeveloped individual it dominates, producing conflict – a familiar domain for the God of War. In Capricorn, Mars is about,
“Materialism, the fight for the satisfaction of personal ambitions, and the conflict with higher spiritual tendencies goes steadily forward, and this most material of all the signs is the battleground of the old established order and habits and the new and higher inclinations and tendencies.”2
The power of Mars persists in the spiritually advanced, through the Second Initiation in particular, up to the Third Initiation where, along with the moon Mars produces a “fearful conflict” between the lower ego and the higher self.
Hence, in both the ingress and full moon charts, Mars is square to the Aries sun that it rules – from the sign of its greatest power in Capricorn. The point of least resistance for “average humanity” is the “satisfaction of personal ambition”, pronounced ego, aggression, militancy, domination and the selfish use of money.
For the more conscious, the potential is the driving power of Mars to reach the mountaintop of Capricorn, to achieve the best potentials that are in accordance with spiritual principles. Aries rules the head and brain – the hardware for the transmission of ideas from the software of the mental body. The first ray of Will or Power pours through Aries, and that Will is about holding unwaveringly to right principles – to take a stand and maintain that stance.
Aries is the Marsial warrior – utterly fearless, confident and courageous, drawing its strength from the exalted Sun. The Sun rules the heart chakra, the source of compassion and courage – the latter word coming from the French coeur = heart; love and courage are inextricably entwined.
The aggressiveness or pushyness of Aries can equally be a staunch resistance that “holds the line”, to use a military expression. This push-pull dynamic is symbolic of Mars, charging rams, the tug-o-war between light and dark, higher and lower, Aries-Libra: war and peace.
Three Spiritual Festivals
Aries also marks the first of the three spiritual festivals of the new year – Aries, Taurus and Gemini. These festivals set the tone for the entire year and are always given a large stimulus by the Guides of the Race during the three full moon periods. An aspect of the Planetary Plan is established during these festivals – drawn from the Divine Blueprint that is constantly precipitating into human consciousness.
Aries’ theme is about the emergence of the subtle idea, patterned and programmed in the ethers, that will eventually manifest upon the outer plane:
“Aries is the place where the initial idea to institute activity takes form. It is the birthplace of ideas, and a true idea is in reality a spiritual impulse taking form—subjective and objective.”3
Therefore the value of group meditation during these periods is of utmost importance – in establishing the correct and meticulous crafting of thought-forms, then rightly directing them, preserving the principles that lay behind.
Aries, Taurus and Gemini function as a triangle of subjective energies that condition the remainder of the year; tuning into their qualities through personal reflection and group meditation is of great planetary service. The three festivals are:
Aries – Easter Festival, the Festival of the Risen Christ.
Taurus – Wesak Festival, the Festival of the Buddha or of Illumination.
Gemini – Festival of Unification – unifying East-West, carried forward by the Christ.
Mercury as Esoteric Ruler of Aries
Mercury is the “messenger of the gods” and its close proximity to the Sun reflects its role as messenger or intermediary to the other planets – literally or metaphorically understood. “Mercury receives seven times more light than any other planet.”4
One must bear in mind that all the planets are intimately connected to one another, as they evolve the Will of the Solar Logos within the corporate body of our solar system. And of course, the source of the higher self and directing will of this solar system is the fixed star Sirius, the “fourth cosmic path” that the majority of liberated humanity will tread. Mercury is the ruler of the fourth ray of Harmony through Conflict (the major ray that rules Humanity as a whole), hence is related to Aries’ exoteric ruler Mars, a “creator of conflict”.
“Mercury indicates that the line of least resistance for humanity is harmony through conflict, for Mercury expresses the fourth ray energy which is buddhic, intuitional and expressive of the Christ.”5
As a sacred planet, and on the “even ray line” of Love-Wisdom (2,4,6) Mercury is the Harmony part of the equation, whilst co-ruler the Moon represents Conflict created by the unconscious self, in this life and the accumulations of many lives. The Moon and Mars both serve similar functions in creating awareness of the unredeemed and unconscious within the personality and create conflict for the individual who is upon the upward Way. The Moon veils Uranus in its rulership of the sacral/sexual chakra, whilst Mars rules the solar plexus, seat of the astral body:
“Like the Moon, Mars plays a most important role in creating an awareness of what is at war within. Yet, it also contributes to the blind and errant human behaviour that creates pain and misery on this planet. Mars the god of war – inner and outer. “War and strife” create the “needed purification”.6
Mercury is however, of a much higher caliber altogether. In its lower expression, Mercury is the “trickster” and mental intelligence (3rd ray), reflected by its exoteric rulership of Gemini and Virgo; it has an association with the throat chakra, seat of the mental body, but does not rule that centre per se. (Saturn does.)
“Mercury, being the Messenger of the Gods and the Agent of Their applied control, is therefore the agent of the third aspect (active intelligence) from one point of view, and of the second aspect (love-wisdom) from another. He is regarded as embodying in himself both these aspects of the mental principle, the expression of the concrete and the abstract mind of God.”7
The mind is of course where illusion is encountered (glamour on the mental plane) and this why Mercury the divine Messenger is regarded as the principle of illusion and the expression of the active higher mind.8 In an even higher expression, Mercury is buddhi or intuition, emanating from beyond the mental plane but utilising the latter. Hence the Aries keynote: “I come forth from the plane of mind, I rule.” Buddhic consciousness is the ultimate goal of consciousness evolution for humanity.
“Mercury is the synthesis of manas-buddhi, mind-wisdom which expresses itself through the human soul; Mercury rules the bridge or the antahkarana.”9
In its buddhic role, Mercury rules the right lobe of the Ajna or brow chakra, whilst Venus rules the left lobe (mind). Each new annual cycle in Aries reminds us of this distant Mercurial achievement:
“When Mercury, the divine Messenger, the principle of illusion and the expression of the active higher mind, has performed his mission and “led humanity into the light” – and the Christ-child out of the womb of time and of the flesh, into the light of day and of manifestation, then the task of that great centre we call humanity will be accomplished.”10
There are several “4’s” associated with Mercury: Associated with the 4th cosmic path to Sirius. The 4th kingdom, the human. Fully realised buddhic consciousness – the 4th initiation. Ruler of the 4th ray:
“Mercury, embodying the energy of the fourth ray, eventually carries the man around the wheel of life and through the medium of conflict enables him to achieve harmony. Mercury illumines the mind and mediates between the soul and the personality, being the Messenger of the Gods. This mediatorship, in the first instance, produces an inevitable opposition between the pairs of opposites and a long drawn out conflict. This conflict finally works out into victory and the dispelling of illusion through the illumination of the lower mind.”11
Uranus, Hierarchical Ruler of Aries
The hierarchical ruler is the third and highest ruler of each zodiac sign. Stated very simply, Uranus in this solar system is a planet that “draws all upwards”, ruling over the future “first synthesising scheme” (of three) where eventually all planetary evolution will resolve at the end of the life of the solar system.
Uranus is the ruler of the human sacral centre that contains the seed of Will/mind to be raised eventually to the higher centres, the throat and ultimately the head. (See “Sex and Relationships – Parts 1 & 2 for Libra/Scorpio 2017.) However, Uranus as the highest ruler of Aries represents that “raincloud of knowable things” from which all ideas emanate and precipitate. Mercury as esoteric ruler, is the messenger-mediator of those ideas to the physical plane. Uranus has an association with science – the exoteric and esoteric sciences, as does Mars:
“Mars governs the senses which are five in number. These senses are the basis of all human knowledge where that which is tangible and objective is concerned or inferred. Mars, therefore, rules science and hence the reason in this present era for the fundamental but not permanent materiality of science—a materiality which is rapidly lessening as Mars nears the end of its present cycle of influence.”12
As stated earlier, Aries rules the head and brain, also associated with the 1,000 petalled lotus of the crown chakra, the centre that synthesises all other centres; it has an inner circle of 12 petals – the “heart within the head”. Uranus has an association with the crown chakra but Vulcan, ruler of the first ray of will-power that pours through Aries, is the specific ruler of the head centre.
We can see therefore, why Aries people can be so headstrong, impulsive, willful and arrogant – like sun-ruled Leo’s! Yet, when there is alignment and responsiveness to all three rulers in the advanced subject, there is a great capacity to touch the “raincloud” and “steal fire from the gods” – with the help of mediator Mercury, also known as the “cattle thief” in ancient mythology!
Mercury stole cattle from Apollo who is of course, the Sun, exalted in Aries. There is much deeper symbolism in this story but briefly, the “meat” that Mercury craved may well represent those ideas residing with the “cloud” – Mercury’s “food”. Today we have the lesser reflection of the web “cloud” where data/knowledge/ideas are stored.
Uranus rules the 7th ray of Ceremonial Magic, Order and Organisation – a cycle that began last century and will last for 2,500 years, over-lapping the 2,160 year cycle of Aquarius, the sign that Uranus rules exoterically:
“Uranus embodies the energy of the seventh ray and its work is analogous to that of Mercury, for the seventh ray is the ray which relates spirit and matter and brings together electric fire and fire by friction, thus producing manifestation. Uranus leads the soul to the burning ground during the final stages of the Path, when the fire of Aries and the fires engendered through the potency of Uranus produce the flaming heat of the final burning ground. Through this burning ground, the initiate has finally to pass. Uranus rules the occult Way and is, in an esoteric sense, connected with the Hierophant of the Mysteries of Initiation.”13
One must be at a fairly advanced stage of evolution to respond fully to Uranus’ hierarchical rulership of Aries. Yet Uranus can have a mass effect and its current 84 year cycle through Aries is important for the seeding of new ideas and making revolutionary changes to the old paradigm. (See Uranus: Aries and Revolution); especially now that Uranus is about to leave Aries and pass into Taurus in May 2018, finally completing its transition by March 2019. Still time left to contact many divine ideas that have the potential to create a resounding effect for the next 84 year cycle!

Aries, Death, Shamballa and the First Ray of Will-Power
The first ray is the major ray that pours through this first sign of the zodiac. Aries is a sign of new life but also death – the fire of Aries burns and destroys all that hinders the path. Pluto, co-ruler of the first ray, is the Lord of Death and is activated in this sign. Hence the Sun nourishes, yet burns and destroys, and combined with first ray Pluto and Uranus, “produces the flame and heat of the final burning ground.” Fire is an agent of purification and,
“Through the lesser fire of mind, the “jungles of experience are set on fire and dissolve in flames – and then the Path stands clear and unobstructed vision is achieved.””14
At Midnight – Light of Shambhala (Nicholas Roerich, 1940.)
Midnight merges into midday.
Through this fiery purification, the mind is released and the soul ruler of Aries – Mercury, becomes the intuitive illuminating principle throughout the life experience; again, Mercury is the mediating principle between Uranian spirit and Martial matter. It is this combination of factors that allows Aries to take a stand, to set an example, to be that idea in manifestation. It is said that death by fire or burning in Aries releases the initiate into the first ray planetary centre, Shamballa.
Jupiter in Aries: Ayn Rand and Alice Bailey
Recently, Ayn Rand’s influence upon American politicians resurfaced, with libertarians and conservatives like Paul Ryan (Speaker of the House) –earnestly promoting her writings.
Rand was a Russian-American novelist, philosopher, playwright and screenwriter. She is known for her two best-selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and for developing a philosophical system she called Objectivism.15 One commentator perhaps sums up the view of many on Rand:
“The most off-putting about Rand is her hardness of heart. She has a Nietzschean (indeed, borderline Nazi) contempt for human frailty and a total lack of sympathy for the underdog. In her weltanschauung, you’re either a hero (rare) or — much more likely — a mere filler of latrines. Any form of charity, she suggests, is a kind of grotesque liberal indulgence towards people who really aren’t worth saving.”16
Nietzsche was a German existentialist philosopher who influenced Hitler and the Nazis, through his ideas of “God is dead” and “Superman”. This is an example of how wrong thinking over generations can compound existing flawed tenets of thought – illusion. Both Nietzsche and the German personality were/are on the first ray line of will-power. The first ray also governs politics – retaining power to govern, according to a particular world view; hence the appeal of Rand’s ideas.
Robert Reich is a prolific political commentator, professor, and author, who served in several US administrations, including Secretary of Labour for Clinton; he recently penned an article “Donald Trump’s Whole Worldview Belongs to Ayn Rand.”:-
“Others in Trump’s circle were influenced by Rand. “Atlas Shrugged” was said to be the favorite book of Rex Tillerson, Trump’s secretary of state. Rand also had a major influence on Mike Pompeo, Trump’s CIA chief. Trump’s first nominee for Secretary of Labor, Andrew Puzder, said he spent much of his free time reading Rand.”17
Rand’s skewed thinking has affected generations who are learning to think and formulate ideas. The hard-heartedness of Rand’s philosophy could be associated with many politicians, Republicans and Democrats alike. Currently however, there seems to be a preponderance of this kind of thinking in the ruling government, propelling USA further into a dark morass; having so many politicians and leaders who concur with the Rand philosophy is deeply disturbing. Rand and her followers are a good example of materialistic thinking and the mind as Slayer of the Real.
“There was also increased criticism of her ideas [Rand], especially from the political left, with critics blaming the economic crisis on her support of selfishness and free markets, particularly through her influence on Alan Greenspan. For example, Mother Jones remarked that “Rand’s particular genius has always been her ability to turn upside down traditional hierarchies and recast the wealthy, the talented, and the powerful as the oppressed” while equating Randian individual well-being with that of the Volk [people] according to Goebbels. Corey Robin of The Nation alleged similarities between the “moral syntax of Randianism” and fascism.”18
Ayn Rand
Rand was an Aquarian sun with Saturn in Aquarius – a radical and independent thinker. (Paul Ryan, whose name is an anagram of Ayn Rand, also has the Sun in Aquarius.) Nietzsche also had Saturn in Aquarius. Rand’s philosophy expressed the cold side of detached Aquarius, further exacerbated by the moon in Capricorn, one of the most difficult placements for the expression of the feeling nature.
Moon in Capricorn (with apologies to all the moon in Capricorn readers!), can be the “ultimate Nazi”, as described in the author’s essay on the main Nazi power group around Hitler, “Nazi Germany: An Astro-Historical Analysis.”
The goat-fish of Capricorn – the mystery of Makara.
The moon (the shadow) is conjunct Mercury in Capricorn, affecting her thought processes and communications; it also rules the ninth house of philosophy. But the real clincher is the square of Mercury-Moon to Jupiter in Aries. Jupiter is the ruler of the second ray of Love-Wisdom and regarded as the planet of philosophy, religion and the ageless wisdom; placed in first ray Aries, Jupiter can take on a pioneering role but can also be belligerent and over-assertive. One motto for the first ray is, “I assert the fact.”
This square aspect in Rand’s horoscope represents a deeply crystallised pattern from earlier incarnations, a challenge for her soul to eradicate, dissolve and resolve. If Rand had succeeded in her soul task, she would have been able to access her Venus in Pisces, an expression of loving understanding, compassion and wisdom. That’s not to say that those qualities were not expressed in her life, they simply were not evident in her overall philosophy. The reader will note that Venus in the ninth house is at the apex of a T-square to Neptune and Uranus, both of which could have distorted or further glamourised her thinking.
Alice A. Bailey (AAB) was born 25 years earlier than Rand and shared some astrological similarities – both had Leo rising and Jupiter in Aries. Whilst Rand had Moon square Jupiter (a tendency for exaggeration), AAB had Mercury in Cancer square Jupiter – a similar tendency, but far more emotional, as evidenced by her earlier life. AAB was a first ray personality and Rand may have been also, or perhaps a first ray soul.
In the author’s astrological biography of AAB, Jupiter in Aries is described as her pioneering work in the Ageless Wisdom, education, religion and publishing. Jupiter is conjunct the midheaven (career) and the most elevated planet, ruling her second ray of Love-Wisdom soul. Jupiter’s position represents AAB as an amanuensis for DK’s pioneering teachings in the ageless wisdom. The amanuensis capacity comes from Mercury’s position in receptive Cancer, square to Jupiter; it was a challenge that she must have met, by becoming an accurate and reliable scribe for the Master.
Alice A. Bailey
The square is an initiatory challenge given by the soul, and Jupiter’s position dominating the midheaven of the chart ensured her success in publishing (Jupiter/9th house – The Lucis Trust) and her received transmissions (Mercury in 12th house).
Summing up, we can see how these two streams of philosophy issued from the same era, one unalloyed by the heart, by a mere mortal trapped by the darkness of mind; the other of a much higher (non-human) caliber – from the Master, transmitted to a more evolved individual; not to sound judgemental, or to put AAB upon a pedestal, its simply an analysis of how the same planetary position of Jupiter in Aries can be expressed so differently by two souls at varying stages of evolution, and probably separate ray paths.
The main factor to be brought out here, is that Rand’s limited thinking has influenced several generations, contributing significantly to a materialistic world outlook and the parlous state of affairs in US politics. On the other hand, Bailey’s work is a synthesis of East-West philosophy written for the Western mind, at the forefront of the emerging Aquarian paradigm – as the shadow of the past Piscean era diminishes.
There are many Aquarian influences here – Saturn in the fixed sign Aquarius can create fixed ideas or idée fixe. What we are seeing today is the glamour of ideas and how they can steer an entire nation off the rails. Hitler’s Germany suffered this fate – as an impressionable Piscean personality, at the mercy of a tyrant who utilised the forces of Aquarius:
“… Hitler … there is no question that he has unified, produced fusion and blended together the various elements in the German race. This activity is Aquarian in nature but in its lowest and most undesirable aspect.”19
USA is an Aquarian soul and can be subject to the same lower Aquarian influences, particularly with regard to manipulative corporate entities – emphasised by the presence of an Aquarian moon in the 1776 exoteric horoscope. Many parallels have been made in recent years about the rise of fascism in the 1930’s and present day. Western nations are seriously infected by the virus of materialistic thinking and the current political party governing Australia is one outstanding example.
One wonders if the New Group of World Servers (NGWS) is really keeping up, let alone paying any attention. There is a tendency of denial – an unrealistic, naïve optimism and belief in Christ’s inevitable, rescuing return that over-rides what is actually happening and deteriorating. Did this same attitude prevail also in the 1930’s, allowing WWII to precipitate – when it could have been avoided if the NGWS were more aware and pro-active?
The Astrology of Facebook
Born on February 4, 2004 at Harvard college, Facebook as a social media platform perfectly fits the Sun placed in Aquarius. It has connected many people and created a greater awareness of what is going on in the world. But it is another Aquarian corporate entity that runs the risk of expressing the “undesirable aspect” of Aquarius, “producing fusion and blending together the various elements” – but for what purpose, has its original motive morphed into something else now? Like money or anything else, it can be used rightly or abused, the latter being the point of least resistance for any young entity, a human being or a corporation.
Neptune conjunct the Aquarian sun reflects the masses that Facebook has networked thus far – 2.2 billion – that is a lot of data and over a quarter of the global population!
The problem with Facebook is of course its hoarding of data – reflected by its moon in Cancer. The moon is the dweller or shadow in any entity’s chart, often being the point of least resistance during the early maturation stage of growth. Cancer and Taurus (Zuckerberg’s sun sign) are renowned for hoarding and acquisition.
The misuse of that data being shared with corporations, intelligence agencies, foreign nations etc. – has emerged spectacularly, with recent revelations about Cambridge Analytica’s harvesting methods of Facebook data. The following video is a shocking perspective gleaned by Britain’s Channel 4; it is an undercover investigation about the “respectable” Cambridge Analytica and their dark arts of data harvesting, manipulation and corruption.
Rest assured (or not), we all have a Facebook profile that has been built up over the years by our particular clicks and likes – social class, politics, sexuality, buying habits, travel etc etc. Facebook tracks all your internet activities before and after you log on. Edward Snowden recently said,
“Businesses that make money by collecting and selling detailed records of private lives were once plainly described as ‘surveillance companies,’” wrote the former National Security Agency contractor. “Their rebranding as ‘social media’ is the most successful deception since the Department of War became the Department of Defense … Facebook makes their money by exploiting and selling intimate details about the private lives of millions, far beyond the scant details you voluntarily post. They are not victims. They are accomplices,” he wrote on Twitter.”20
The Moon in Cancer (the shadow, dweller) is opposite Mercury in Capricorn, the planet of communications – and very business-savvy when placed in this sign. Its interesting to note that this opposition straddles the Mercury-Pluto opposition in USA’s horoscope with Facebook’s Mercury almost the same degree as USA’s Pluto – one significator of that nation’s enormous wealth. The midday chart (time unknown) is Gemini rising, the sign of communications ruled by Mercury.
Hence, in this speculative horoscope – Pluto in Sagttarius, in the seventh house of relationships, T-square to Venus-Jupiter – can be very ruthless in relations and prone to covert activity – the ultimate Big Brother. USA is on its first Pluto return and its transit through Capricorn continues to reveal hidden agendas regarding politics and business in particular.
Facebook Transits The current crisis is reflected by several transits.
1. Transiting Jupiter in Scorpio may have revealed the writing on the wall when it first squared Facebook’s Neptune-Sun in Aquarius in December 2017, continuing its revelatory work that started with themes like the Weinstein affair. The second exact square occurs in May and the third and final hit will be in August 2018.
2. The transit of Saturn in Capricorn opposite Saturn in Cancer, which like the Moon in Cancer, represents the enormous retention of data and the labyrinthine networks of associated developers and companies.
3. Transiting Pluto will be conjunct Chiron in Capricorn for the next two years, followed by transiting Saturn – it seems a time of reckoning for this company. Some interpretations of Chiron in Capricorn: Feel a need for respect and status so much that they lose sight and do not enjoy accomplishments. Try to control and organise everything. Feel they are working harder than everyone else to no avail. Feeling ignored or unrecognized – hardly now, but not in a way that they would like!
The Festival of Easter: Crucifixion and Resurrection
Aries is the first of three festivals for the spiritual new year, celebrated in the west during Easter, the first Sun-day (Sun exalted Aries) after the Aries full moon:
“The Festival of Easter. This is the festival of the risen, living Christ, the Teacher of all men and the Head of the Spiritual Hierarchy. He is the Expression of the Love of God. On this day the Spiritual Hierarchy which He guides and directs will be recognised, and the nature of God’s love will be emphasised. This festival is determined always by the date of the first Full Moon of spring, and is the great Western and Christian festival.”21
The Resurrection is an esoteric term for the Fifth Initiation – when an initiate becomes a Master of Wisdom. Jesus was well on his way toward that goal, but the Crucifixion (or Fourth Initiation/Great Renunciation) was the culmination for that life. (He took the 5th initiation as Apollonius of Tyana in the next life.) Bear in mind the previous reference to Mercury, buddhi and the 4th degree – the true Sannyasin must renounce all to claim that prize.
Jesus was a Messenger of Love for Humanity, over-shadowed by The Christ who was also undergoing a higher initiation; working together as one unit, they were the Avatar for the Age of Pisces. The Christ will make another appearance as the Avatar for the Age of Aquarius, and in this time of the forerunner, that time is fast approaching.
“Resurrection is the keynote of nature; death is not. Death is only the ante-chamber of resurrection. Resurrection is the clue to the world of meaning, and is the fundamental theme of all the world religions—past, present and the future. Resurrection of the spirit in man, in all forms, in all kingdoms, is the objective of the entire evolutionary process and this involves liberation from materialism and selfishness. In that resurrection, evolution and death are only preparatory and familiar stages.
The note and message sounded by the Christ when last on Earth was resurrection, but so morbid has been mankind and so enveloped in glamour and illusion, that His death has been permitted to sidestep understanding; consequently, for centuries, the emphasis has been laid upon death, and only on Easter Day or in the cemeteries is the resurrection acclaimed.
This must change. It is not helpful to a progressive understanding of the eternal verities to have this condition perpetuated. The Hierarchy is today dedicated to bringing about this change and thus altering the approach of mankind to the world of the unseen and to the spiritual realities.”22
Indeed, it seems that this “morbid” attitude still prevails in Christian nations around the world, how much has really changed since these words were written 80 years ago? Easter is an old pagan festival representing a time of rebirth and regeneration, as symbolised by the giving of Easter eggs – an egg with all its latent potential. The Easter bunny is a symbol of fertility, spring and new life – distributing eggs.
Easter is “East”, where the Sun rises; the rising sign, astronomically ascends on the eastern horizon, signifying soul purpose. Hence Aries brings a new spiritual impulse annually, for which we can all align ourselves with silent and joyous expectation.

Astounding as always, Phillip—interesting “mini-critique”/ pertinent question concerning the New Group of World Servers–NGWS–has me sincerely pondering—!!
Thanks for the remarkable presentation on Uranus in Aries and for pointing to your earlier post on the same. Happy Easter!
Dear Phillip,
your comments are soo outstanding that it is difficult to find the right words. You translate the ancient wisdom into actuality and your teachings are updated for the Aquarian Age.
Thank you so much for your work!
Heidi Kunkler, Sardinia
There is hope for all of us. I was encouraged with the strength of conviction of the March for Life participants this past Saturday. They are standing up for their beliefs and making a public statement. They are being noticed not just here but in the world in general. I wasn’t there with them physically but I was with them in spirit. We have to keep the momentum.
Thanks for your newsletter and insights.
Interesting, thanks Phillip for your insights. I had not heard of Ayn Rand so was interested to learn of her influence in the political sphere. The Social Network is a movie about how Facebook began. Although the movie is well made, it shows the nature of energy that Facebook was created from and the character of Mark Zuckerberg. Perhaps of a quality leaning more towards what we are seeing with the issues today rather than the positive benefits of the global connector it can be. Though always upsides and downsides as with any energy. And I liked the ending with the comments about Easter and ideally the focus being on the theme of resurrection rather than the guilt-ridden idea that Jesus died for our sins.
Great astrological commentary, as always 🙂
As we stand at the apex of this new astrological new year, from the angle of the NGWS and the writing of AAB & DK offers also another angle on the idea of Christ, the soul and the Aquarian Age, which we are birthing:
“When, however, soul-consciousness is achieved or developing, then this triple instrument is superseded by the intuitional receptivity of the soul—whose inclusiveness is absolute and who is at-one with the soul in all forms.
Those disciples who are working along this line are the nurturers of the seed of the future intuitional civilization, which will come to its full glory in the Aquarian Age. The intuition is the infallibly sensitive agent, latent in every human being; it is based, as you know, upon direct knowledge, unimpeded by any instrument normally functioning in the three worlds. Of this intuitional future age, Christ is the Seed Man, for ‘He knew what was in man.’
Today, a group or a unit of groups can be the nurturers of the seed of the intuition; the cultivation of sensitivity to telepathic impression is one of the most potent agencies in developing the coming use of the intuitive faculty. The truly telepathic man is the man who is responsive to impressions coming to him from all forms of life in the three worlds, but he is also equally responsive to impressions coming to him from the world of souls and the world of the intuition. It is the development of the telepathic instinct which will eventually make a man a master in the three worlds, and also in the five worlds of human and superhuman development.”
The text goes on to state this is happening along two lines: scientific research and the formation of groups who are en rapport with the soul aspect and able to demonstrate this connection on the mental plane. These are in fact two sides of the same coin with the subjective thoughtform being built up by the NGWS and objectively brought into focus through scientific inquiry – the building of a bridge that spans from the collective concrete mind up through the abstract levels of the mental plane into the buddhic plane. This is the demonstrable building of our collective Antaḥkaraṇa. Happy Astrological New Year!
