Introduction
Well so much for the “occasional newsletter” – it might be re-named “frequent newsletter” given the last missive only two weeks ago! It will return to occasional, but this newsletter has emerged from a strong inner prompting for an esoteric analysis on the dire situation in the Middle East.
This introduction is also partly for the many new subscribers since my interview last week on the subject of The Hidden History of Humanity. I have written about Israel, nations’ culture & politics for the past 20 years. Eyeless in Gaza: Israel on the Brink
Eyeless in Gaza is the title of a novel written by Aldous Huxley, author of the prophetic book, Brave New World.
Huxley took the title from a John Milton poem that recalls the bible story of Samson when he was captured by the Philistines, his eyes were burned out and he was taken to Gaza, where he was forced to work at grinding grain in a mill:
“… Promise was that I
Should Israel from Philistian yoke deliver;
Ask for this great deliverer now, and find him
Eyeless in Gaza at the Mill with slaves …”.
The story of Samson might be a metaphor to the current situation in Israel, the most dangerous it has ever faced – and for the world, if it spills out into a larger conflict.
Samson was a Nazarite (a holy person), one of the last leaders and a judge in Israel; he was regarded as a figure like Jesus the Nazarene, and was “given by god” an immense strength that allowed him to perform superhuman feats, including slaying a lion with his bare hands. The metaphor is somewhat mixed, but parts of Samson’s story relate to:
1. Gaza is (yet again) the focus in this October 2023 crisis.
2. “Eyeless” is being blinded by rage and revenge on both sides of the conflict, not having clear vision of the situation.
3. Palestinians have been “slaves in the mill” for the past 75 years.
4. Who are the Philistines now – have the Israelites become those whom they reviled and fought in ancient times?
The word philistine has come to mean a person who is narrow-minded, hostile to intellect, has a materialistic outlook and is indifferent to cultural or aesthetic values. One could name many modern politicians and destroyers of culture that have these attitudes today!
Samson’s strength may have come not merely from being “blessed by god” on his holy journey, but from being a giant, not uncommon in those days; similar to Goliath from the Philistine camp, another biblical character who was killed by the sling of David from the Israelites.
Goliath was “six cubits in height” (1 Samuel 17) or 9’ 6” – and David was a young shepherd, hence the allegory spawned about the triumph of the underdog over seemingly insurmountable odds, using courage to hold one’s nerve and intellectual focus to deliver the kill-shot. Of course, David became King David over all of ancient Israel and was probably an initiate.
Netanyahu Stares into Pluto’s Abyss
Scorpio co-ruler Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld, revealing what is hidden in the unfathomable abyss – particularly now during Pluto’s last square to Netanyahu’s sun in Libra. This means that Pluto’s influence will last for another year, as this pattern is embedded in his recent solar return horoscope Oct.21.

As a planet of death and destruction, it might well spell the end of Netanyahu’s career (bye-bye Bibi) and/or have a severe influence on his health – such as a life-threatening illness. Already he looks pale and gaunt, he cannot be getting much sleep. War is hell for everyone.
The lord of hell, transiting Pluto – has been sextiling his Scorpio ascendant for the past couple of years, supporting his grip on power and extraordinary political survival skills. But that era appears to be coming to a close now. Other Netanyahu analyses from the last few years can be found here:

Netanyahu might of course, as a politician, claim heredity to the King David line, yet it was the Jewish Jesus – the unrecognised Jewish Messiah who is descended from David, according to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
Ironically, the Master Jesus today is said to be incarnate in a Syrian body, living somewhere in the Holy Land. Yet, according to The Tibetan through Alice Bailey,
“In the maps which are to be found in the Archives of the spiritual Hierarchy, the entire area of the Near East and Europe—Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey, Palestine, the Arab States, Egypt and Russia—are under a heavy overshadowing cloud.
Can that cloud be dissipated by the right thinking and planning of Great Britain, the United States and the majority of the United Nations or—must it break in disaster over the world? Will it present a task too hard for correct handling by that inexperienced disciple—Humanity?”1
End of the “Israel Experiment”?
Libra’s keynote may well be, “I choose the way that leads between the two lines of force.” This can be used as cop-out for those who stay silent in the face of gross injustices, but the Middle Way of Libra is still needed to navigate the pairs of opposites – the two opposing armies, the extreme polarisation in any conflict. Venus rules Libra, Mars rules Scorpio. Hence, in Scorpio, the spiritual warrior must fight for Libran justice, fending off of the dark hordes of materialism.
The last week of October promises to be a torrid one, where the delicate balance (Libra) between all-out war or peace and reconciliaton – could go either way. The USA is urging restraint to attack Hezbollah because it could start a domino effect of other parties joining the fray: Other Arab nations are watching and waiting and it is reported lately, organising themselves for any possibilities, including Turkey:
Lebanon on Israel’s northern border and Hezbollah’s large army with sophisticated weaponry. Syria adjacent to Lebanon, a long-standing feud with Israel – Israel bombed the international airports of Aleppo and Damascus after October 7, barely reported in the media.
Qatar, a funder of Hamas (with Israel’s approval) and recent hostage broker. Egypt – to where Israel has attempted to drive the Palestinians and from where convoys of aid trucks are now passing into the Gaza Strip. Jordan to the east, Iraq and Saudi Arabia further afield to Syria and Jordan. Iran stands far in the background geographically, but closely watches the situation, as a backer of both Hamas and Hezbollah. As stated in the last newsletter a couple of weeks ago,
“Some observers speculate that the conflict in Israel was allowed to happen, to draw attention away from the fact that the proxy war in Ukraine has been a miserable failure for NATO and Western powers.
Indeed, many are saying that national security lapses of Israel’s “9/11” or “Pearl Harbour” provided a pretext to expand their territory or engage in a much larger conflict with other Arab powers in the region.”2
Since then, multiple reports have emerged in mainstream media (CNN, NY Times etc.) about “security lapses” by the IDF, Mossad, govt. etc – in one of the most high tech monitored places in the world.
The idea of a deliberate lapse in security to provide a 9/11-style pretext to “wipe Gaza off the map”, by sacrificing many innocent Israeli’s, is abhorrent and chilling – yet feasible if one considers the fanatical Zionist policies that govern Israel: “Its all for the greater cause” kind of rhetoric.
The Settlers Problem
Yet, noted investigative journalist and political writer – Seymour Hersh, stated recently in an article titled, “Netanyahu is Finished”:
“The attack by Hamas was a direct result of a decision Bibi made, over the protest of local military commanders, “to allow a group of Orthodox settlers to celebrate Sukkot in the West Bank.” Sukkot is an annual fall holiday that commemorates the ancestral journey of Jews into the depths of the desert.”3

The settlers mentioned in this passage number around 900,000 and are an extreme expression of crystallised religious doctrine; they are a thorn in the side of Israel with their appalling, aggressive and fanatical behaviour: The persecution of Palestinians through theft of land, continuous harrassment, intimidation and illegal settlements.
Under Netanyahu’s latest government, the settlers were given explicit backing – that has emboldened them even further. (See this TIME article, Why Israeli Settler Attacks Are Growing More Frequent)
The next passage below describes the settler movement and the illusion of their “god given right”, from a movement that began in 1967, by the aptly named Rabbi Kook – “leaning heavily on a mystical reading of history, affirmed that modern Israel, for all of its blemishes, was “the state that the biblical prophets had envisioned”:
“[The settlers are]… a small, idealistic band of religious farmer-soldiers has grown into a vast and varied network of nearly half-a-million Israelis living in more than 130 cities and towns. Though many of these settlers continue to identify with the ideology of the movement’s founders, they have been joined by a large and growing population of secular nationalists, ultra-Orthodox Ḥaredim, and other, non-ideologically aligned groups.
Even among the settlers who still identify with the originating brand of religious Zionism, there is no longer a definitive understanding of that worldview or a generally recognized religious authority who could establish one.”4

The Current Conflict
The injustices and lack of regard for human life – by settlers, many other Israelis’s and their administration has been on flagrant display for decades – and recently through Israel’s (arguably) disproportionate response: Several weeks of bombing, terrifying an already deeply traumatised populace of over 2 million Palestinians.
As Jordan’s King Abdullah stated in a recent speech (video 2’ 22”), the bombing campaign has been “cruel and unconscionable”. (See also this article, Children in Gaza ‘developing severe trauma’ after 16 days of bombing.) Another observer states,
“Israel is currently transforming Gaza into a heap of smouldering rubble, bombing commercial and residential areas, hospitals, mosques, churches, schools, shelters, people fleeing the air-raids, killing thousands of Palestinians, wiping out entire Palestinian families (or, as Israel calls them, “human shields”), and otherwise exercising its inalienable “right to defend itself” by sealing off Gaza and systematically liquidating its inhabitants, or, rather, by creating “a new security reality.”5

The bombing of a hospital in Gaza killing over 500 people, appears to have been deliberate, despite all the counter propaganda – as one forensic analysis (video 4’ 4”) by a human rights group details on UK’s Channel 4. This is by the way, the fifth war on Gaza since 2008.
In the 24 hours from Sunday night Oct.22 through to Monday – 436 Palestinians were killed, that included 182 children. Since the Oct.7 attack by Hamas, 5,087 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes including an horrific figure of 2,055 children. 15,273 people have also been wounded. It is reported that there are still over 200 Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Many observers are saying that this campaign is not about going after the Hamas militants, but a deliberate, targeted genocide of the Palestinians, a slaughter of vast proportions – in an effort to drive them out of Gaza forever, razing their infrastructure into the dirt, leaving nothing to return to.
Indeed, this current crisis is being called the second Nakba (catastrophe), taking its name from when Israel was formed in 1948 – at the expense of the loss of many lives and the displacement of around 900,000 Palestinians. Others are calling it a Holocaust – and the association with that word is obvious and ironic.
“The Palestinian prime minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh, has said the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are exposed to “the Israeli murder and criminal machine”. Speaking before a cabinet session in Ramallah, he said the spectre of death threatened thousands of children and patients in Gaza’s hospitals, Al Jazeera reports.”6

These horror events have been supported by the UK, USA and other Western nations – whilst the United Nations and other agencies bleat impotently on the sidelines about the violation of human rights. USA’s foreign aid package to Israel of $100 billion (goodbye Ukraine!), weapons, aircraft carriers – are helping to create an even greater pariah state of Israel – in the centre of outraged Arab nations.
As former Iraq weapons inspector Scott Ritter stated recently, “Netanyahu is finished and this may be the end of the Israel experiment”. Yet, there are many wise voices emerging from both sides of the conflict – Jewish and Arab, the latter here: No heroes in Hamas-Israel conflict, only victims: Former Saudi intelligence chief (video 3’ 51”).

Israel’s Astrology: Progressions and Transits 2023
The transits (T) in Israel’s horoscope could not be more challenging. The chart used here is Aquarius rising, for when the previous day’s declaration of the state of Israel came legally into effect. Whether the Libra, Scorpio or Aquarius rising charts are used, the transits and progressions are all basically the same, with of course, changed house positions for each horoscope.

Israel: Progressions and Transits.
1. T. Mars in Scorpio square Moon in Leo – exact Oct.25 but already wreaking havoc a few days before in an accelerated intensity of attack on Gaza – multiplying atrocities against human life and property. Overkill and disproportionate response are descriptions that come to mind.
The Moon in Leo represents the old Lion of Judah, the pride of history and taking back the Promised Land by force. Hence, Mars is exacerbating that deep-seated samskara/crystallisation – with the intensity of (lower) Scorpionic emotion, hatred, revenge and violence.
Bear in mind also, that Israel has four positions in Leo: Moon, Pluto, Saturn and Mars. Hence, transiting Mars will trigger all these planets in the next few weeks. The dates of all this squares are listed below.
2. Full Moon in Taurus-Scorpio This Mars transit will culminate at the full moon, when the Sun and Mars is in Mars-ruled Scorpio, with Moon in Taurus opposite. In the quad-wheel transit chart there is a grand cross in fixed signs, with two prominent oppositions from Scorpio to Taurus:

Mars-Mercury in Scorpio opposite Jupiter in Taurus.
Scorpio is a sign of power and ruthlessness, especially considering its co-ruler Pluto the Destroyer. Taurus is Israel’s sun sign also and is associated with land, property and its destruction or theft.
Therefore this period represents one of the most dangerous points in world history, with the possibility of a wider conflict leading to world war. We have all seen these WWIII banners in recent days as the speculation mill runs hot, but it really is at a most serious point and the astrology reflects it.
These oppositions are in turn squared by natal Moon-progressed Sun in Leo – opposite Earth and progressed midheaven in Aquarius. There is that rigid Moon in Leo, highly activated in this grand cross.
The position of Mars in Scorpio at the full moon is somewhat ominous – as it falls on Mars in the Hamas horoscope. In other words, it is the Mars return of Hamas – exact on the full moon. President Biden’s Mars return is 1-2 days later!
Hence, this is an excruciatingly intense grand cross formation, a powder keg waiting to blow, a perfect storm of inharmonious forces that could be the “end of the Israel experiment”. In other words, all the Arab nations who have been watching and waiting, may unleash a ferocious attack on Israel that could be permanently crippling.
Yet these nations know that Israel has a large stockpile of nuclear weapons, and so any attack that occurs might be kept within the limits of conventional warfare. But given the madness/fanaticism of some Israeli politicians, generals and activists, the hornets nest stirred up within the Israeli military – a nuclear weapon could be unleashed for a “limited” nuclear exchange.
But everyone knows there is no such thing, as that kind of scenario would create a domino effect of other nuclear weapon retaliations, and that would be the end of planet Earth. Part of the passage from the last newsletter is worth repeating here:
“If none of these things happen [religious tolerance], humanity is headed towards a religious war which will make the past war [WWII] appear like child’s play; antagonisms and hatreds will embroil entire populations and the politicians of all the nations will take full advantage of the situation to precipitate a war which may well prove the end of humanity. There are no hatreds so great or so deep as those fostered by religion.”7
3. Full Moon Partial Eclipse This eclipse is intensifying the situation. In the astro-cartography chart, the Sun-Moon lines run straight through Israel, Lebanon andJordan – all well within orb of influence to the entire area of the Middle East. But it is highly significant that the Sun-Moon line runs straight through Jerusalem and Gaza.

4. T. Mars-Mercury in Scorpio T-square Pluto in Leo, T. Jupiter in Taurus Exact on Oct.30., two days after the full moon. (In the transit quad-wheel, the reader can see this T-square highlighted in gold lines and circles.)
Already the Pluto part of the Moon-Pluto equation was activated when T. Mars squared Moon in Leo. Pluto the destroyer and ruler of Scorpio. But this pattern is amplified considerably by the presence of T. Jupiter in Taurus, opposite T. Mars-Mercury in Scorpio – T-square to Pluto in Leo. In other words, another high danger date in this unfolding drama. As will be seen later, these danger periods embrace Oct.24 through to Nov.22.
The keynote for Scorpio on the “reversed wheel” of discipleship is, “Warrior am I and from the battle I emerge triumphant”. Which warriors are we talking about? The warriors who set their dogs of war upon the hapless and “meek”, or the warriors of light who will stand up to the madness that is rampant in the world today? Will they triumph over those who walk the way of the “ordinary wheel” of Scorpio who, “Let maya flourish and deception rule”?
5. T. Mars in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo Following soon after the previous square to Moon and Pluto, this is another very tough point of tension, exact by Nov.5 – but highly influential for several days before, following the full moon of Oct.28.
Natal Saturn is inextricably linked to an applying conjunction from Israel’s natal Moon in Leo. Both positions fixate the Lion of Judah syndrome, whilst Saturn is the hard-rule authoritarian.
Saturn is also one of the lords of karma, hence from Oct.22 through to Nov.5, this Mars transit may trigger the ancient law of retribution that plays out against Israel.
6. T. Mars in Scorpio opposite Taurus Sun Then T. Mars will oppose Israel’s Taurus Sun, joining with T. Sun in Scorpio – exact Nov.15, but within orb of influence several days before. This T. Mars-Sun conjunction will not only oppose the Taurus Sun, but also the long term transit of Uranus across Israel’s sun. (See Uranus transit timing in point 9.)
7. T. Mars in Scorpio square Mars in Leo When Mars was opposing the Taurus sun (previous point 6), it was activating the natal square of Sun in Taurus to Mars in Leo, one of the main crystallised patterns that reflects Israel’s awkward and aggressive incursion into Palestine in 1948. Here is the suppurating wound of Israel since 1948, the Leo moon is also a wound/memory, but from thousands of years ago.
The Sun represents the personality, the three-fold lower self – mental, emotional/astral and physical. As Mars rules the solar plexus chakra – doorway to the astral body, this square represents the challenge to integrate the highly emotional energy of Mars in Leo, which often expresses as self-centredness, emotional exaggeration – the “drama queen”, even as much as Moon in Leo!
Gaza 22-1023.
Hence, from Nov.15 – 22, T. Mars will be setting off the Sun-Mars square, representing another danger period regarding Israel’s enemies that surround it.
Bear in mind also in this Aquarius rising chart, that Pluto-Saturn-Mars in Leo all straddle or are placed in the seventh house of “open enemies” or more hopefully, “wherein enemies are recognised and unions and friendships achieved.”8
8. T. Mars in Scorpio conjunct Midheaven opposite prog. Asc/Alcyone. T-square to Mars in Leo In this Aquarius rising horoscope for Israel, the midheaven (public, career) is in the very last degree of Scorpio – a potent point, called an “anaretic degree” – a degree of “karmic completion”. (This transit will also be conjunct Netanyahu’s Scorpio ascendant, a few days before.)
That is most potent in itself, yet the culmination of Mars on the midheaven comes into an exact opposition to not only the fourth house cusp (the homeland), but also the progressed ascendant in the last degree of Taurus (land, territory)! Note also the T-square to natal Mars in Leo, viewed in the transit wheel, is in the colour mauve.
The Pleiades
This degree is also conjunct the fixed star Alcyone in the Pleiades, related to Israel’s Aquarius ascendant:
“Aquarius relates humanity to the Pleiades and therefore to Taurus in an unusual manner. The key to this relation is to he found in the word desire, leading, through the transmutative processes of life experience, to aspiration and finally the relinquishing of desire in Scorpio.
Aquarius, Alcyone and Humanity constitute a most interesting triangle of force. Alcyone is one of the seven Pleiades and is called the “star of the Individual” and sometimes the “star of intelligence.” It was potently active during the previous solar system wherein the Third Person of the Trinity was peculiarly omnipotent and active…”9
Several points can be made from this quotation:
1. The Pleiades are regarded as the third aspect or “mother ray”of the trinity with Sirius and the Great Bear.
2. The Pleiades correspond to the third ray of active-intelligence, the personality ray of the Jewish people.
3. The first “solar system” is esoterically the third where the development of intelligence was fostered. In this following, current incarnation of our Solar Logos, it is the Love-Wisdom principle being developed. The first solar system represents the mysterious origin of the Jewish people, their advanced intellect and service to the rest of Humanity.
Their task as the chosen ones, would they but know it, is to embody the planetary solar plexus where world emotion is transmuted. The following passage is quite long – and controversial for some, but gives a deeply esoteric context to the current crisis and the futility of creating a Jewish state:
“… they represent the energy and the life of the previous solar system. You have often been told how, at the close of this solar system, a certain percentage of the human family will fail to make the grade and will then be held in pralaya, or in solution, until the time for the manifestation of the next and third solar system comes around. Then they will constitute the advanced guard and the symbol of the coming humanity of that system.
The same thing occurred in the system before this one and those whom we now call the Jews (a purely modern name and distinction …), are the descendants of that earlier group which was held in pralaya [rest period] between the first and second solar systems.
If you will remember that the third ray governed that system and also governs the Jewish race, if you bear in mind that that system was occupied with the divine aspects of matter only and with external conditions, and that the Jews were the highest product of that system, you can come to an understanding of the Jew, his separateness, his desire for racial purity and his interest in that which is commercial and tangible.
A “greater Israel” to which some die hard Zionists aspire.
The Jew, down the ages, has insisted upon being separated from all other races but he brought over from the previous system the knowledge (necessary then but obsolete now) that his race was the “chosen people.”
The “Wandering Jew” has wandered from System One to this where he must learn the lesson of absorption and cease his wandering.”10
Indeed, the “lesson of absorption” – into the rest of Humanity, whereby their great gifts can be shared in a brotherly spirit, which of course many Jewish people do already. That is why concentrating one third of the world’s Jewish population into one tiny part of the world, only exacerbates these ancient and redundant patterns.
Bear in mind also, that to be “Jewish” does not necessarily mean being born into a Jewish tradition or family. In the above context, its more about a certain developed consciousness.
9. T. Uranus conjunct Sun in Taurus/Earth in Scorpio – T-square to prog. Saturn/SA Mercury in Leo (Check the quad-wheel T-square in blue lines.) Exact Nov.24. This transit is most significant as it is the ruler of the Aquarius ascendant which holds the idea of a global community/kibbutz – of sharing and religious tolerance, that could have been an example for the world and was for a while in a limited sense. But instead the “stacked deck” of the Leo polarity has predominated.
Shalom, Salaam – Peace.
Uranus is the revolutionary, radical and reformer, so the possibilities of an ideal like the one stated above are not entirely lost, though of course the future looks bleak.
Uranus has been moving back and forth over Israel’s sun in Taurus – since June-July 2023, continuing until March 2025, activating the square to natal Mars in Leo. This will probably create much instability, change and further conflict.
T. Uranus will not stop squaring Israel’s troublesome Mars in Leo until March 2026, so by that time there may have come about some resolution of the natal Sun square Mars. But it appears no one will be holding their breath over that possibility – it would take a miracle or even the Reappearance of the Messiah himself. Now there’s a thought …!

I grieve for world leaders
who lack courage and vision
who work from a script
and make no real decision
I grieve for those schemers
who prey upon the dreamers
I grieve for those who
pull the strings behind the scenes
who create division and hatred
who pile up armaments
and profit
from human misery
I grieve for the lost soldier
on Ukraine’s steppe
who perished in pain,
rotting somewhere
unburied and unknown
some mothers son
in some frozen field,
while his Russian brother
lies incinerated in his tank
I grieve
wherever in the world
our human kin has fallen,
unwitting servants
of cruelty and hatred
for territory, power and oil
meant for sharing by all
I grieve and weep
for all their grieving mothers
their fractured fathers,
their broken brothers and sisters
dehumanised, demoralised
downtrodden
their anguished wailing
reaching up to the stars
I grieve for our tiny sphere
of suffering and distress
for the Silent Watcher
within whose wings
we are blessed,
who waits out the aeons
for your liberation,
for the last weary pilgrim
to forge in the heart
the real right of return
to the fiery hearth.

My gut tells me this is the same Evil playbook played over and over to start wars for the Elites control and Profit! By my statement of a “certain developed consciousness”, I meant the unfoldment of consciousness on the 4th subplane of the mental plane. (As expressed in my 2010 essay: Jewish Glamour: A Change in Attitude. (https://esotericastrologer.org/?articles=jewish-glamour-a-change-in-attitude)
The Christian evangelists have not reached that point of development yet, they still dwell in kama-manas (desire mind) and are conditioned strongly by the sixth ray of devotion and idealism. Hence, their emotional adherence to their ideas has bred a fundamentalism in which they are trapped. The article by Whitney Webb is one her most brilliant I have ever seen, I highly recommend it.
Phillip as far as the possibility of nuclear war in the Middle East you have quoted Foster Bailey as having said that nuclear war has been impossible since 1954.

I think you called it out in your previous newsletter about the dual nature of Mars, akin to Scorpio being characterized by a dual line of force, one to violence and the other to discipline/restraint.
