Sirius, Leo and the Birth of Human Consciousness
“August, which is ruled by Leo, is the month of the Dog-star, or of Sirius, which thus brings Sirius into close relation to Leo. Leo … is ruled by Sirius … when the new world religion is founded and is working, we shall find that the major, monthly festival in August, held at the time of the full moon, will be dedicated to the task of making contact, via the Hierarchy, with Sirian force. Each of the months of the year will later be dedicated (through accurate astrological and astronomical knowledge), to whichever constellation in the heavens governs a particular month, as Sirius governs Leo.”1

As the “science of all sciences”, Esoteric Astrology embraces the vast sweep of time cycles and history, particularly the event of human Individualisation during ancient Lemuria 21,000,000 years ago. At that time, the Sun was precessing on a 2,160 year-cycle through Leo, an appropriate sign for Humanity to receive the “spark of mind” from the “lords of flame” – because solar-infused Leo is about true self-conscious awareness. The esoteric teachings inform us that this spark of mind was “implanted” in Humanity by a massive electrical stimulation that had its source on Sirius, passing via Venus to Earth.2

Sirius shines behind Sahu who is the symbol of Orion, consort of S0pdet (Sirius), their son was Sopdu or Venus – depicted by 5-pointed star.

Fiery Leo is the 5^th zodiac sign, the number of manas or mind, and the 5^th ray of science-knowledge is transmitted through it. Venus is the ruler of the fifth ray – her interpretation in exoteric astrology as the goddess of love, beauty, sex and relationships – filters down from its jurisdiction upon the mental plane, where the pairs of opposites are harmonised and the creativity of the higher mind is activated.

Sirius is the “higher self” to this solar system, just as Venus is the alter-ego to Earth. Our current world crisis in this past century is partly due to a “welling up of magnetic force on Sirius, which produces effects upon our solar system and particularly upon our Earth.”3 At individualisation, the cyclic and karmic opportunity had arrived where it was time for our tiny planet to receive the “electrical shock” that woke us up:

“Only one Being (from Sirius) has visited our system and that was at the time of individualisation … The effect of such a visit as that of the Avatar from Sirius is seen as the sum total of civilisation and culture, viewing these from the standpoint of the entire system and in one flash of time.”4

An extraordinary statement! A Cosmic Avatar such as the one from Sirius is,

“… as far removed from the consciousness of Man, as man is from the consciousness of the atom of substance. Thousands of those great cycles which we call “a hundred years of Brahma” have passed since They [cosmic avatars] approximated the human stage, and They embody force and consciousness which is concerned with the intelligent co-ordination of the starry Heavens.”5

In other words, these avatars are directors of energies from that which is above to that which is below. It was far back in Lemuria that the planetary centre known as Shamballa was established, as well as those guides of the race known as the Hierarchy – who instituted the first (very primitive) mystery schools and received candidates for initiation.

Indeed, Sanat Kumara as the “King of Shamballa”, is the ultimate Lion and on a higher turn of the spiral, our Solar Logos (Sol) aspires to be a “Lion of Cosmic Will” – in the likeness of the greater Sirian counterpart.

Sirius A and B.

The Sun is the ruler of Leo on three levels. At the esoteric or soul level, the sun “veils” Neptune, the heart of the Sun. Neptune represents intuition, emotional sensitivity and the mystic-visionary. Sirius is known as the “brilliant star of sensitivity”, a theme shared with Leo:

“… the outstanding theme of Leo is the activity of the self-conscious unit in relation to its environment or the development of sensitive response to surrounding impacts by the one who stands—as the Sun stands—at the centre of its little universe. The whole story and function of Leo and its influences can be summed up in the word “sensitivity”…

… I want you to have this innate spiritual sensitivity and this outer material sensitivity most carefully in mind if you want truly to understand the influences of Leo upon human beings and especially upon the person born in this sign or who has this sign rising …”6

A phrase from an earlier passage bears explanation – “when the new world religion is founded and is working” – Meaning that there will be an universal spirituality that weaves the luminous threads from all traditions, yet will create a higher synthesis; it conveys the idea of a re-uniting, or a “binding back” to the Divine Source.

The majority of Humanity will choose the Sirian Path
With regard to the earlier reference to Venus, ruler of the 5th mental ray – the ray that pours through Leo, the 5th sign. Sirius transmits energy from the cosmic mental plane, yet its expression is also the Love-Wisdom that emanates from the heart of the lion. This Leo-Sirian full moon for 2019 sees Venus and the Sun in an exact conjunction – hence, Venus will act as extra-potent agent for the stimulation of Sirian forces during the Leo interval. And what is the theme of Sirius?

“Sirius … gives the incentive towards the “culture of freedom” or of liberation … a “pulling away” from form … There is a relationship of very ancient date between our Lord of the World, Sanat Kumara, and the Lord of Sirius … The majority of liberated humanity … choose this way to the cosmic centre [Sirius] … The energy of Sirius … is focussed in the Hierarchy … The entire work of the Great White Lodge is controlled from Sirius; the Ashrams are subjected to its cyclic inflow; the higher initiations are taken under its stimulation, for the principle of buddhi, of pure love (i.e., love-wisdom) must be active in the heart of every initiate …

… This Sirian influence was not recognised, and little of it was definitely focussed in the Hierarchy, until Christ came and revealed the love of God to humanity. He is the expression, par excellence, of a Sirian initiation, and it is to that high place He will eventually go … Sanat Kumara is not on the Sirian line but—to speak in symbols, not too deeply veiled—Lucifer, Son of the Morning [Venus], is closely related, and hence  the large number of human beings who will become disciples in the Sirian Lodge. This is the true “Blue Lodge,” and to become a candidate in that Lodge, the initiate of the third degree has to become a lowly aspirant, with all the true and full initiations awaiting him “within the sunshine of the major Sun.””7

Dag Hammarskjöld: Lion of the United Nations
“In a dream I walked with God through the deep places of creation; past walls that receded and gates that opened through hall after hall of silence, darkness and refreshment–the dwelling place of souls acquainted with light and warmth–until, around me, was an infinity into which we all flowed together and lived anew, like the rings made by raindrops falling upon wide expanses of calm dark waters.”

Dag Hammarskjöld had the sun in Leo with Libra rising, his soul purpose is encapsulated in his statement:

“Our work for peace must begin within the private world of each of us. To build for man a world without fear, we must be without fear. To build a world of justice, we must be just.”8

His Leo sun – “to be without fear” (courage) and Libra rising – “peace” and “a world of justice”. Dag Hammarskjöld (DH) is recognised as one of the best UN secretaries-general – from 1953 to 1961. John F. Kennedy made this amazing statement, “I realise now that in comparison to him, I am a small man. He was the greatest statesman of our century”. During this critical world period it is essential that the spirit of this great disciple is invoked:

“Dag Hammarskjöld [1905-1961] was a Swedish economist and diplomat who … was the youngest person to have held the post, at 47 years … His second term was cut short when he died in the crash of his DC-6 airplane (whose cause is still disputed) while en route to cease-fire negotiations during the Congo Crisis. He is one of only four people to be awarded a posthumous Nobel Prize.”9

Hammarskjöld’s death has been in the headlines recently – as further proofs of the 1961 airplane sabotage emerge, detailed in a recent Sundance documentary Cold Case Hammarskjöld. Transiting Jupiter (truth) in Sagittarius has been activating DH’s Venus in Gemini lately (media) – Venus the ruler of his Libran ascendant. (It is also timely that the author is writing about Hammarskjold whilst spending summer in Sweden – and that our rising and sun signs are the reverse of one another – Leo rising, Libra sun.)

Dag Hammarskjöld

Hammarskjöld’s soul purpose was Libra rising – the creation of world peace and justice for all, expressed through his leadership of the UN in the post-war period 1953-1961; he emerged from the four-nation bloc of Scandinavia, home of the Nobel peace prize – and whose soul force is Libra. It may be no coincidence either, that the previous and first secretary-general of the United Nations after WWII was Norwegian, Trygve Lie. It is ironic that the Scandinavian nations, so infamous for the mythos of marauding and warlike Vikings, are the home of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Hammarskjöld was a Leo personality – Leo the lion-king of his domain, a king of many nations if you will; a Leo who cultivated an humility that kept him free from Leonine arrogance and pride; he made various remarks about humility during his life:

“To have humility is to experience reality, not in relation to ourselves, but in its sacred independence. It is to see, judge, and act from the point of rest in ourselves. Then, how much disappears, and all that remains falls into place. In the point of rest at the center of our being, we encounter a world where all things are at rest in the same way. Then a tree becomes a mystery, a cloud a revelation, each man a cosmos of whose riches we can only catch glimpses. The life of simplicity is simple, but it opens to us a book in which we never get beyond the first syllable.”10 (Readers may also find of interest Phillip Lindsay’s earlier commentary on hubris and humility.)

DH makes a further comment upon Leo leadership, connecting the word humility from the previous passage with the word humiliated; he knew the meaning of equality and kingly ruling from an Arthurian round table – by ennobling and dignifying others. Note the word ennobling – to make noble, a truly Leonine capacity:

“Your position never gives you the right to command. It only imposes on you the duty of so living your life that others can receive your orders without being humiliated.”11

DH has some further thoughts on the subject from his Markings diary, the only book he wrote, published posthumously:

“Humility is just as much the opposite of self-abasement as it is of self-exaltation. To be humble is not to make comparisons. Secure in its reality, the self is neither better nor worse, bigger nor smaller, than anything else in the universe. It *is*–is nothing, yet at the same time one with everything. It is in this sense that humility is absolute self-effacement.

To be nothing in the self-effacement of humility, yet, for the sake of the task, to embody its whole weight and importance in your earing12, as the one who has been called to undertake it. To give to people, works, poetry, art, what the self can contribute, and to take, simply and freely, what belongs to it by reason of its identity. Praise and blame, the winds of success and adversity, blow over such a life without leaving a trace or upsetting its balance.”13

Spiritual Life
“But the explanation of how man should live a life of active social service in full harmony with himself as a member of the community of spirit, I found in the writings of those great medieval mystics [Meister Eckhart and Jan van Ruysbroek] for whom ‘self-surrender’ had been the way to self-realization, and who in ‘singleness of mind’ and ‘inwardness’ had found strength to say yes to every demand which the needs of their neighbours made them face, and to say yes also to every fate life had in store for them when they followed the call of duty as they understood it.”14

It has been said that Hammarskjöld was the greatest UN Secretary-General because of his ability to shape events. This is a trait of both Libra and Leo. Libra, through the materialising 5^th and 3^rd rays associated with this sign, giving “the power of the developed Libran to project the inner spiritual purpose or intended will into physical expression.”15 Hammarskjöld’s reputation at the time was, “that of a brilliant economist [3^rd ray], an unobtrusive technician [5^th ray], and an aristro-bureaucrat”.16

Leo – through Uranus, is a planet common to both signs – the esoteric ruler of Libra and hierarchical ruler of Leo. Uranus rules the seventh ray of Ceremonial Magic or Organisation – and the seventh physical plane:

“When Uranus controls, the Leo person is significantly the true observer, detached from the material side of life, but utilising it as he pleases. His spiritual consciousness is capable of great expression and he can be (as has oft been pointed out by astrologers) both an electric, dynamic leader, a pioneer in new fields of endeavour and also a magnetic centre of a group whether the group is small, as in a home, or vast as in a nation.

Hammarskjöld appeared on several Time magazine covers.

He is then polarised above the diaphragm, for the lower more material aspects of life have really no great appeal to him; he is then profoundly conscious of his own identity, and this makes him dwell definitely in a state of self-awareness, with its consequently abstracting powers. He is instantly aware, once he is spiritually awakened, of his motivating impulses, and this leads him to an imposed self-discipline—the thing the Leo subject sorely needs and which must always be self-imposed and self-applied, for he brooks no disciplinary measures which others may seek to impose.

Discipline imposed by people upon the Leo person leads invariably to revolt and rebellion and the expression of that which the discipline is intended to eradicate. Discipline imposed by himself leads to the perfection of which he is notably capable.”17

Libra was DH’s soul purpose and Uranus as esoteric ruler was placed in Capricorn – a 7th ray planet in a 7th ray sign, gave a formidable skill for manifesting and materialising. Uranus was also part of a “mystic rectangle” formation in his horoscope that included Mercury, Moon and Saturn. The mystic rectangle gives a strong sense of balance, structure and harmony between the four planets involved.

Mercury in Virgo represented DH’s acute intelligence and discrimination; a great emotional empathy with his Moon in Cancer – conjunct Neptune the mystic-visionary in the ninth house of wisdom and foreign culture. DH’s Sun in Leo opposite Chiron in Aquarius is the “wound” of group work and co-operation within the global community; Mars in Scorpio is the spiritual warrior par excellence.

The third ray of active-intelligence must have been powerful in DH’s ray make-up. He graduated in the third ray disciplines of philosophy and law, excelling as an economist in leading banks and financial institutions before he became UN secretary. Among the four Scandinavian nations, Sweden is regarded as embodying the “third aspect” due to its manufacturing and materialising skills. (Denmark = 2^nd aspect, Norway-Iceland = 1^st aspect.) The third ray pours through Scandinavia’s Libra soul and along with the seventh ray, its Cancer personality. Hence, Hammarskjöld truly emerged from the soul of his nation.

When Hammarskjöld took up his post at the UN, “he made a point in going to every UN department to shake hands with as many workers as possible, eating in the cafeteria as often as possible, and relinquishing the Secretary-General’s private elevator for general use.”18 Here is the humility of an advanced Leo, plus Libra the sign of harmonious relationships.

Also on the theme of Libra, the sign of the interlude that creates space for reflection – DH, “planned and supervised every detail in the re-designing of the meditation room at UN headquarters. This is a place dedicated to silence, where people can withdraw into themselves, regardless of their faith, creed, or religion.”19

“In the place of dominance in the room is something wholly surprising-a six and a half ton triangular block of crystalline iron ore from a Swedish mine. The polished top is lit by a single beam of light from a source hidden in the ceiling. It glistens like moonlight in water. Approximately 60 slabs were mined before this one was chosen.”20

“Within the United Nations is the germ and the seed of a great international and meditating, reflective group—a group of thinking and informed men and women in whose hands lies the destiny of humanity.”21

Hammarskjöld’s only book is Markings – “an intermingling of prose and haiku poetry in a manner exemplified by the 17^th-century Japanese poet Basho” – and widely considered a spiritual classic, selling millions of copies since first published in 1963:

“A collection of his diary reflections, the book starts in 1925, when he was 20 years old, and ends the month before his death in 1961 … Hammarskjöld wrote: These entries provide the only true ‘profile’ that can be drawn … If you find them worth publishing, you have my permission to do so.”22

The foreword was written by his friend and contemporary, the English-American poet W. H. Auden:

“The attempt by a professional man of action to unite in one life the via activa and the via contemplativa. It reflects its author’s efforts to live his creed, his belief that all men are equally the children of God and that faith and love require of him a life of selfless service to others. For Hammarskjöld, “the road to holiness necessarily passes through the world of action”.23

Markings was described by theologian, Henry P. Van Dusen as, “the noblest self-disclosure of spiritual struggle and triumph, perhaps the greatest testament of personal faith written … in the heat of professional life and amidst the most exacting responsibilities for world peace and order.” Hammarskjöld wrote, for example:

“We are not permitted to choose the frame of our destiny. But what we put into it is ours. He who wills adventure will experience it – according to the measure of his courage. He who wills sacrifice will be sacrificed – according to the measure of his purity of heart.”24

One striking factor in DH’s life was that he never married, he was completely devoted to, and “married” to public service, yet yearned to have a partner:

DH: “The lusts of the flesh reveal the loneliness of the soul.” – Ron Rolheiser comments: “Those words highlight part of the deeper intentionality of sexual desire. And this insight was more than just a theoretical one for Hammarskjold. He knew loneliness and unfulfilled desire. As a young man, he had lost a woman he deeply loved to another man, and this was a wound that never left him. He never dated or pursued marriage again. He longed to be married, but, for all kinds of reasons, as is the case for millions of people, it just never happened. He was, in the words of his biographer, Walter Lipsey, “checkmated rather than mated.””25

Indeed, with Libra rising ruler Venus in Gemini, placed in the ninth house of foreign nations conjunct Pluto, DH conducted profound relationships with many nations! Note also, the UN’s moon in Gemini is on DH’s Venus. Other notable passages from Markings:

“You wake from dreams of doom and–for a moment–you know: beyond all the noise and the gestures,
the only real thing, love’s calm unwavering flame in the half-light of an early dawn.”

“Forgiveness breaks the chain of causality because he who ‘forgives’ you
–out of love–takes upon himself the consequences of what you have done.
Forgiveness, therefore, always entails a sacrifice.
The price you must pay for your own liberation through another’s sacrifice
is that you in turn must be willing to liberate in the same way,
irrespective of the consequences to yourself.”

UN and DH: Astro-Synastry
Dag Hammarskjöld had some remarkable synastry with the United Nations horoscope – as seen in the bi-wheel chart below. In order of importance:

The United Nations synastry with Dag Hammarskjöld 

1. DH Venus-Pluto in Gemini conjunct UN Moon in Gemini. A good flow of communications.

2. DH sun in Leo conjunct UN Pluto. Dealing with powerful people and the collective.

3. DH Libra rising, exactly opposite UN Aries rising. Reconciling the opposites, tempering Aries impulses with Libran restraint, peace instead of war, yet allowing the UN to be a leader.

4. DH’s Mars in Scorpio (the mark of a disciple) conjunct UN Mercury. Mercury is the ruler of the aforementioned Gemini synastry:

“Mercury, as it relates Gemini to Scorpio and to our planet, has a mass or general effect, for it is the hierarchical ruler of Scorpio and its effect is of a planetary nature far more than is usually the case… Its true significance will not be understood until the consciousness of individual man is also planetary in its scope and grasp, which is never the case until after the third initiation.”26

Was Hammarskjöld that, “disciple of rare capability in Sweden”?27 This has been a contentious topic in esoteric circles through attribution of the passage to Henry T. Laurency (1882-1971) and by others to fellow Swede, Dag Hammarskjöld. It must be borne in mind that this statement was made in the context of occult education and hence, appears to be definitely Laurency. The passage from DK is about occult study and how to achieve it correctly. Hammarskjold was not involved in occult education, though profoundly occult and mystical in his own right. Laurency was a disciple who,

“… presented the esoteric knowledge using a modern, lucid terminology and mathematical nomenclature in order to render it more compatible to the Western mind.”28 DK made the “disciple of rare capability” comment in the book, A Treatise on White Magic in the early 1930’s – just several years after Laurency had begun a very 5^th and 7^th ray approach to systematising all of DK’s writings – and those of others such as Blavatsky and Leadbeater.

If one really penetrates Laurency’s vast work, it is apparent that he achieved a systematic synthesis, despite his shortcomings of a somewhat condescending, know-it-all, cutting criticism and a few outright, opinionated inaccuracies! Following is the greater context of the passage that precedes the “disciple of rare capability in Sweden” statement:

“Occult study is of profound importance, and students of these sciences must bring to bear upon them, all that they have of mental application and concentrated attention. It involves also the steady working out of the truths learnt. Occult study, as understood in the Occident, is intellectually investigated but not practically followed. Theoretically some glimmering of light may be appreciated by the man who aspires to the occult path, but the systematic working out of the laws involved has made small progress as yet.

This is one reason why India provides such an adequate school of endeavour. There, knowledge of occultism dates back tens of thousands of years and time has set its mark even upon the physique of the people, providing them with bodies which offer not that resistance which occidental bodies so oft afford.  … These conditions are not to be found in the West, where constant change in every branch of life is found, where frequent rapid shifting of the scene of action causes wide areas of disturbance which militate against any work of a magic nature. The amount of force required to effect certain results does not warrant their use, and time has been allowed to elapse in an effort to produce an equilibrising effect.

The climax of the disturbed condition has been passed [written early 1930’s], and a more stable state of affairs is gradually being brought about, and this may permit of definite occult work being attempted with success. The Master R is working upon this problem, and likewise the Master of the English race … They are aided by a disciple of rare capability in Sweden, and by an initiate in the southern part of Russia, who works much on the mental levels. Their aim is so to tap the resources of force stored up by the Nirmanakayas that its downflow may sweep out lower grade matter, and thus permit the free play of a higher vibration.”29

Hammarskjöld could not have been that “disciple of rare capability” in occult education, because from 1930-1934 he was secretary of a government committee on unemployment, completing his economics thesis, “The Spread of the Business Cycle” – receiving a doctorate from Stockholm University. In 1936, he became a secretary in Sweden’s central bank the Riksbank.

Hammarskjöld has the hallmarks of a 3^rd degree initiate, whilst Laurency was most likely a “disciple of rare capability” – in the way he blended Theosophical, ageless wisdom teachings through a systematic synthesis. HTL may have been approaching the 2^nd degree initiation and even taken it in that life – a still very advanced stage of spiritual unfoldment.

Finally, it is interesting to note Laurency’s comments on Hammarskjöld in two passages, mentioning him in the same breath as Churchill and FDR – who were most likely third degree initiates:

Attaturk – a revolutionary statesman, author, and founder of the Republic of Turkey.

“It may be assumed that all who were once initiates of some esoteric knowledge order … have attained the stage of culture, and are disciples of some member of the planetary hierarchy. That does not at all mean that they need to be aware of this in their present incarnation. Most often they are not. Neither Franklin Roosevelt, nor Winston Churchill, or Dag Hammarskjöld knew that they were disciples.30 … Mustafa Kemal [Attaturk], Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Dag Hammarskjöld (were unbeknownst to themselves) disciples of the planetary hierarchy.”31

Hammarskjöld achieved many things, some of which were – stabilising the UN, “solidifying the notion of an international civil service with an independent Secretary-General-free of political pressures, and originating the modern concept of UN peacekeeping.” As noted earlier, may the spirit of Dag Hammarskjöld be invoked in this dangerous world period – when the stability and strength of the United Nations is needed more than ever.

“This is a political transition unlike any other. It is a massive rupture, not a seamless progression. Its outcome is dark-clouded in uncertainty … this is an unprecedented partisan seizure of power by the radical part of the Conservative party that seeks Brexit whatever the cost. It is a hard Brexit coup dressed up as politics as usual …

… the new Johnson cabinet … is an unbalanced cabinet of mostly second-rate ideologues, many of them with negligible records of ministerial achievement and several of them with very dubious political ethics. All the positions of power are held by Brexit extremists. The rest are political hostages to the hard Brexiters.”32

On the day that Boris Johnson was sworn in as Britain’s new prime minister (July 24), the sun had just entered Leo – the sign of kings and leaders – conjunct Jupiter in Leo in Britain’s horoscope. Jupiter in Leo is very grand, fond of pomp and ceremony; it is the ruler of the second ray of Love-Wisdom, the soul ray of the nation – the force that brought about the democratic system for the world. Democracy is now under serious threat due to manipulation by selfish interests globally, and hence this is a most critical transition point for Britain to find its way back to soul.

Also, on this day, transiting Mars on its two-year cycle, was conjunct Britain’s progressed Sun-Mercury in Leo. The degree of the zodiac coincides with the fixed star Dubhe, one of the two pointer stars to the pole star Polaris:

“Leo is the sign wherein the consciousness of individuality is developed, utilised and finally consecrated to divine purpose … it is also peculiarly susceptible to the influence of that Pointer in the Great Bear which is the nearest to the Pole Star [Dubhe] … this Pointer and the energy emanating from it guides humanity upon the involutionary path, and is constantly active in its influence upon the man who is still upon the Mutable Cross.”33

Hence, there will be a stimulation of mass consciousness that may bring greater awareness to the British about how they were duped by Brexit; if this occurs, then Britain may get-back-on-track to fairer elections. (Indeed, this is being speculated upon.) Already, the day after Johnson’s swearing-in and creation of a new ultra right-wing cabinet, crowds took to the streets to demonstrate in London.

The latter link of Gemini Britain and Gemini USA: Double Trouble! 2019 – explores the relationship between the two Gemini’s, Trump and Johnson. To remind readers of the discussion thus far, the following passage is repeated from the Gemini 2019 newsletter:

Hermes (Mercury) and Athena, a good match for Britannia!

“The planet in the spotlight has been Britain’s Mercury in Sagittarius – lately squared by transiting Neptune [see chart above] – and identified as the major factor that led to the public being deceived by an aggressive propaganda campaign for Britain to leave the EU. Boris Johnson was part of that campaign, infamous for his completely untrue comments that Britain’s net payment to the European Union would be £350 million a week.

Britain’s Mercury in Sagittarius [see above: inner wheel, 3^rd house] – represents an upholding of ideals and/or a reorientation to new ones; but as UK’s Mercury (and Johnson’s) was squared by Neptune, the planet of idealism – the lower, unredeemed expression of Neptune triumphed – with its themes of deception, illusion, delusion etc. – a deliberate deception of the nation by a small group of plotting billionaires. Bear in mind also, that the third Gemini labour of Hercules involves the arch-deceiver, Busiris! [Ironically, Gemini is Britain’s soul.]

The ruler of Britain’s second ray soul of Love-Wisdom – Jupiter, has all the while been transiting back and forth across the nation’s Mercury, stimulating and amplifying the “Mercury problem” – to higher thought and a reorientation to new ideals more suited to the nation.

The last pass of Jupiter over Britain’s Mercury occurs in late September 2019 – close to the October date by which Boris Johnson wants a “hard Brexit”. So the battle upon the mental plane in the realm of ideas is far from over! (Also, Jupiter currently has a close proximity to the Earth.) Johnson’s Mercury in Gemini sits opposite Britain’s Mercury in Sagittarius – a clash of viewpoints, a contrary view.

Trump’s wildcard and erratic Uranus in Gemini, sits exactly opposite Britain’s Mercury in Gemini! It appears that this is an unprecedented period where the worst expression of Gemini can take place through the influence of Trump and Johnson, through their selfish aspirations.

With transiting Jupiter opposing Johnson’s Gemini Sun and Mercury – up until September and October, he has a very good chance of winning the Tory leadership [which he did], confirming his odds status currently.”34

Another factor that is contributing to Britain hanging on to the past – besides its Taurus personality – is the Cancer moon in UK’s 1801 horoscope. Currently Pluto has been opposing this position and will continue to do so until the end of 2019. Hopefully by then or perhaps sometime in 2020, Pluto’s work of destroying the old Cancer-cling-on habits will have been accomplished!

“He is clever, cultivated, charming; witty, self-deprecating, wildly entertaining and oh so terribly British. Also dissembling, dishonest, dark, duplicitous, and a danger to his country and to Europe.” – Han ten Broeke, former Dutch MP.35

Boris Johnson is a stereotypical Busiris character – a many-times proven liar, manipulator and deceiver. Johnson has a stellium of planets in Gemini – Mars, Venus, Mercury and the Sun aspecting a Scorpio moon; he has considerable intelligence, was educated at Oxford, had a career as a journalist, apparently a good writer, witty and funny. But in true lower Gemini fashion, he has a loose relationship with the truth, reflected by Gemini’s polar opposite Sagittarius. His boy-ish charm emanates from the naïveté of Gemini, plus Libra rising. Johnson has many similarities to Trump in terms of policies, a disdain for facts and a penchant for Gemini double-speak. This trait plays straight into the lower expression of Britain’s Gemini soul:

“It is the Gemini influence which has produced — viewing the work of the nation from the personality or lower angle — the secret and oft devious diplomacy and subtlety which has in the past distinguished Great Britain’s political activity. Gemini people are often distrusted, and the Gemini effect along this line makes of Great Britain no exception.”36 [Think the classic British comedy, Yes Prime Minister!]

Dominic Cummings To make matters worse, or better for Johnson at least, his special advisor and chief strategist is Dominic Cummings – who has a stellium of planets in Sagittarius – opposing Johnson’s Gemini planets: Sun, Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury and Venus. Cummings’ Jupiter in Sagittarius falls on Britain’s Mercury in Sagittarius, having a powerful effect in shaping ideals and policy. Perhaps fortunately, Cummings’ Saturn in Gemini falls right on Johnson’s impetuous and reckless Mars in Gemini, bringing some restraint! Cummings is regarded as “master of the dark arts” and was called a “career psychopath” by ex-PM David Cameron.

With regard to subterfuge and propaganda, Cummings previously served as the campaign director of Vote Leave, advocating the UK to leave the European Union; he was found in contempt of Parliament for not appearing before an inquiry into false news during the referendum campaign. Cummings’ role reminds one of Martin Bormann, Hitler’s private secretary who controlled the flow of information and access to Hitler.

Bormann also had a stellium in Sagittarius, including Jupiter – and, a stellium in Gemini, including the Sun! Cummings has a great admiration for Otto Bismarck, one of the key 19th century figures in Germany, regarded as an “avatar of materialism” – who laid the foundation for Nazism. (See this author’s Nazi essay here.) Cummings does however acknowledge that “Bismarck was a monster”.

It should be noted that the author has no political agenda by making all these fascist connections to the Tory government, they have simply arisen by virtue (or vice) of the characters involved. Bear in mind, fascism was on the rise in Europe during the Uranus-Pluto squares of the 1930’s and that these squares have repeated in recent years, seeing a worldwide trend in that direction.

Observers, journalists and academics have made countless comments about this fact in the mainstream press. It is ironic that in the face of “creeping fascism”, Boris Johnson has drawn about him a cloak of Churchillian respectability – by publishing a book about Churchill – one of the architects of Nazi defeat in WWII. George Galloway, the British politician, broadcaster and writer – has an amusing and accurate perspective on Johnson:

Trump-Johnson: Destroyers, Deluders, Manipulators of Souls?
Politics is on the line of the first ray of will or power a for first ray aspirants – whose shadow or “Dweller on the Threshold” contributes to the national or global dweller – built for millions of years and now on the verge of destruction:

“The first ray aspirant who fails to overcome his Dweller may become a “destroyer of souls“, as it is called, and be condemned (until he learns his lesson) to work in the forces of matter, and with the forms which hold all souls in prison.  This is the occult significance of the misunderstood words, death and destruction. Of this type, the Devil is the great prototype.”37

Hitler was on the first ray and certainly qualified as a Destroyer of souls – a term that may or may not apply to Johnson and Trump, even though we are told that, “The first group works through governments, through politics, and the interplay between nations and is relatively small in number.”38  The Dweller descriptions for the second and third ray types sound more like Trump, particularly the third ray – which seems to be strong also for Johnson. Note that the third sign Gemini has a correspondence to the third ray of active-intelligence, but as a sign, transmits the second ray of Love-Wisdom:

“The second ray aspirant who builds his Dweller and permits its steady and increasing control becomes a “deluder of souls“.  He is the true Anti-Christ, and through false teaching and the working of so-called miracles, through hypnotism and mass suggestion he draws a veil over the world and forces men to walk in the great illusion. It is interesting to note that the work of the Devil, the imprisoner of souls, is beginning to lose its power, for the race is on the verge of understanding that true death is immersion in form, and that matter is but a part of the divine whole.”39

The italicised part is certainly what Trump does, discussed in a 2016 horoscope analysis,– “his astonishing capacity to make his mistakes disappear overnight have had a mesmeric effect on many Americans.”

BoJo fancies himself as a latter day Churchillian figure who will “save” Britain. His recent book – The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History.

“The second ray group who delude and deceive, work through religious agencies, through mass psychology, and the misuse and misapplication of devotion and of the arts. They are largest in number. souls in prison” who are subject to the activities of the forces of evil and only for a term.

The third group work primarily through commercial relations in the business world, and through the use of money, the concretisation of prana or universal energy, and the outer symbol of the universal flux and flow.”40

Trump is an obvious member of this third ray group, especially because of past dodgy business practices, failed schemes and false promotion of himself as billionaire. Johnson’s campaign was supported by billionaires, who were also involved with Brexit plotting; “upper class toff” Johnson stayed regularly at their luxury houses etc. To what degree either of them qualify for these groups, only the intuition can tell:

“The third ray person who also fails to shatter his “Dweller” becomes what is called a “manipulator of souls” and uses the mind to destroy the real and to put a veil between the man and reality. It must be remembered that none of these names and these activities refer to the soul on its own plane but only to human souls in incarnation on the physical plane.  his must be stressed, for on its own plane the souls of all men stand free from illusion, and neither can be destroyed, deluded nor manipulated. It is only “the souls in prison” who are subject to the activities of the forces of evil and only for a term.”41

Leo Soul London
Boris Johnson held the Mayor of London post from 2008-2016 – quite a long spell for this Gemini – in a Gemini soul nation! Returning to the theme of Leo in UK”s 1801 horoscope, not only are Jupiter and the progressed sun in this sign, but also Saturn, the lord of karma. Britain is esoterically a Gemini soul with a Taurus personality but its capital London – also one of the five major planetary centres – is a Leo soul.

“London, the heart centre of the empire is ruled spiritually by Leo and materially by Libra … It is not, however, the spiritual quality of this sign [Leo] which dominates British policy, but primarily the Libra aspect. Great Britain regards herself as the preserver of the balance [Libra] of power among the nations and as the one to mete out justice [Libra] and indicate the right methods of law and order [Leo/Libra]; yet her Gemini nature [British soul] at times offsets this, whilst Taurus [British personality] frequently blinds her to the real issues.”42

It is always interesting to note the interaction between the esoteric and exoteric horoscopes. Britain’s 1801 horoscope reflects some of the esoteric rulers of London through having Libra rising and Jupiter-Saturn, progressed sun in Leo. When Britain’s very esoteric coat of arms is considered, it displays the lion and the unicorn – Leo and Capricorn – the latter being the sun sign of UK’s 1801 chart:

“Leo, is the fifth sign of the zodiac which indicates that it is part of the mysterious number, ten—the number of perfection, a relative perfection, prior to entering into a new cycle of progress. This links Leo consequently with Capricorn, the tenth sign of the zodiac, for it is the processes of initiation which make the self-conscious person the group conscious individual.43

“The Mystery of the Lion and the Unicorn. This secret is preserved for us in the ancient nursery rhyme about the “lion and the unicorn going up to town,” and contains in a peculiar way the secret of initiation and the “going up” of the human being to the portal of admittance into the Hierarchy as well as the “mystic raising” of which Masonry holds the key.

This deals with the emergence of the consciousness of the initiate (white and one-pointed) and the defeat of the king of beasts (the personality) leading to the triumph of group and world consciousness, of selflessness and illumination over self-consciousness and selfishness. In the true rendition of this ancient myth the king of beasts is blinded and killed by the piercing of his eye and heart by the long horn of the unicorn.”44

The latter part of this passage is similar to the earlier reference of Dubhe the pointer star in Leo in the tropical zodiac:

“… this Pointer and the energy emanating from it guides humanity upon the involutionary path, and is constantly active in its influence upon the man who is still upon the Mutable Cross.” – the beast of personality is raised up to be the unicorn-initiate of the soul.

Like all zodiac signs, Leo has a lower and higher expression – the “beast” of the lower self or – the powerful and magnaminous ruler who presides over a “kingdom” – which can be anything from the personality or one’s field of service, to a nation or the planet as a whole. With London as a Leo soul and Libra personality, the phrase “rule of law” comes to mind– rule (Leo) and law (Libra). Rule Britannia! London’s Leo soul is expressed by Britain ruling over its empire out to all the farther reaches of the globe. European colonialism – despite some of its clumsy and tragic outcomes, was definitely part of the Planetary Plan, in linking all cultures and races into a planetary consciousness.

London’s Leo soul also represents the monarchy that presided over the transition to a democratic system of government since the 17^th century, now broadcast around most of the world, albeit imperfectly and with some sad regressions to facist tendencies. The Libra personality of London is embodied by Westminster, the parliament and legislation passed for hundreds of years. Britain is one of the most mature nations and although on the “path of discipleship”, is prone at times to a less subtle expression of soul force – one example for Leo London are certain political attitudes that reflect the tyrannical and dictatorial nature of Leo.

Britain Leading Nation of the Fifth Rootrace

At the vanguard of the Fifth Rootrace (5.5.5), Britain has absorbed some of its the worst elements that constitute the dweller or shadow; particularly as it symbolises the past, compared to USA’s role as the future, as the bridge between the Fifth Rootrace’s concentrated expression in Europe to the Sixth Rootrace synthesis in South America.

Leo is known as the “positive dweller” – that unconscious part of any entity that is resistant to the impression of the soul. The crisis of the Western nations in the 21^st century – of which Britain is a founding member, is a battle  with the forces of darkness for the soul of humanity. That battle has been focused mainly in the USA, but is momentarily shifting focus to Britain, due to the Johnson-Trump alliance – and the fact that Britain’s Gemini soul links to USA’s Gemini personality. The current crisis in London, because the far right Conservatives have come into power, is another escalation of the Global Dweller raising its ugly head; of the challenge for the masses to rise up and invoke the souls of both nations:

“This sign [Leo] has frequently been described as the “battlefield of the Forces of Materialism and the Forces of Light.” It is occultly regarded as one of the most material signs, in-as-much as selfish desire for possession of material objectives can be peculiarly present and the display of the possessive spirit can violently control; yet, at the same time, the advanced Leo person can function as the “inspired spiritual Sacrifice.” He is then sensitive to world conditions and freed from personal desires.”45

The most primordial of Leo battlegrounds!

There is the “sensitivity” theme of Leo again and also the “sacrifice” factor of Neptune, the esoteric ruler. What also comes to mind is the phrase, “The lion must emerge from its lair – an injunction badly needed by Leo aspirants.”46 Currently Britain has been expressing a combination of materialistic Leo and a recalcitrant Taurus personality that seeks regresssion to old glory days of the Empire.

Yet, as stated earlier, London’s Leo soul is currently being invoked because so many alarming events are occurring, reflecting a destabilisation of the democratic system – and hopefully a mobilisation of the masses. This is the time for the Western world to face its Dweller – it can be viewed as phase three of three phases – the first two being WWI & II.

As stated regularly in these missives, the WWIII of warring ideologies now rages upon the mental plane; it does not have to precipitate to the physical plane and can be resolved peacefully – even in the face of blatant war-mongering, bullying and deliberate destabilisation by the USA who is followed obediently by Britain – like a cowed British bulldog. (ouch!)

Lion and the sun is one of the main emblems of Iran, a prooud nation.

The recent Iran fiasco in the Strait of Hormuz, is a case in point – a planned strategy designed to coincide with Johnson’s predictable Tory leadership; this is where the many subjective workers can influence the current world situation a great deal, through group meditation and the stimulation of the souls of nations. Because London is the planetary throat centre, embodying the Western mind – ideas, new thinking and trends that are generated there, spread around the world:

“Only when there is adequate fusion within humanity as a whole does the great human Dweller on the Threshold appear as an integrated entity, or the Dweller in a national or racial sense makes its appearance, spreading and vitalising national, racial and planetary glamour, fostering and feeding individual glamours and making the entire problem unmistakably apparent. Only then can the relation between the soul of humanity and the generated forces of its ancient and potent personality assume proportions which call for drastic activity and intelligent cooperation.”47

Now that there is “adequate fusion within humanity as a whole”, has emerged the Leonine “battlefield of the Forces of Materialism and the Forces of Light”. Leo is the fifth sign and through the development of manas, symbolically (and perhaps actually), presides over the Fifth Rootrace.

Make America Grate Again – and Ilhan Omar
Yes, grate – USA’s current administration/president grates aggressively against other nations; grates against common decency by vilifying individuals because they are refugees or minorities; grates away and undermining all that it has been built in its few centuries of existence.

USA’s (lower) Leo rising president is an ingrate who chooses to wilfully misunderstand that his nation’s greatness and glory has been through the blending and assimilation of all races and religions. This graceless president is constantly creating division, trying to destroy this nation’s achievements thus far, stirring up racial hatred to selfishly fuel his re-election in 2020: No 20-20 vision here, only a skewed myopia from a cowardly con-man, man-child – who unfortunately has the backing of almost half the nation!

Hence, Trump’s re-election in 2020 is looking good – yet his comments enable and “give permission” to many angry, disaffected young men to commit mass murder in the name of their distorted ideology. The latest incidents on August 3 – two mass shootings where 31 people lost their lives. Can we imagine the chaos and pain that these kind of events create in families and within the social fabric as a whole? And how do these events shape the ideologies of all the people involved? Do they become more militantly anti-Hispanic, or anti-Muslim and pro-guns? Or do they recognise the festering wound in the psyche of the nation?

All the more bizarre that Trump should then do a back-flip and declare on national television that hatred, racism and bigotry have no place in American life! Backed into a corner by public outrage, it appears his advisors forced him to make this public announcement – a direct contradiction of his previous remarks. Even then he was dyslexic – “God bless those who perished in Toledo”! Perhaps he meant it, but because of his pathological lying, who can believe him? He also said something that he could never have thought of or phrased, an obviously written line from his speech writer – read straight off the tele-prompter: “Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul.” Indeed it does, too bad he does not understand that.

Trump also played his words in support of the gun lobby, by claiming that video games were to blame (partly, yes), mental problems (yes) – and that “people pull triggers” – avoiding of course the elephant in the room – a ban on assault rifles and a complete overhaul of gun laws. There are hundreds more mass murderers awaiting their day in the sun – while Nero fiddles and Rome burns. Barack Obama spoke more genuinely on behalf of the Office of the President:

“We should soundly reject language coming out of the mouths of any of our leaders that feeds a climate of fear and hatred or normalizes racist sentiments … leaders who demonize those who don’t look like us, or suggest that other people, including immigrants, threaten our way of life, or refer to other people as sub-human, or imply that America belongs to just one certain type of people … It’s time for the overwhelming majority of Americans of goodwill, of every race and faith and political party, to say as much — clearly and unequivocally.”48

Trump shamelessly slandered four congress-women (the Squad), labeling them “hate-filled extremists who are constantly trying to tear our country down” – a case of pure projection, in stark contrast to the courage of the targeted Ilhan Omar:

“Omar is the primary focus of this mob’s ire [send her back! send her back!]. Of the four congresswomen who make up the Squad, only Omar was born outside the United States, and Omar is black, a woman, a refugee and a Muslim. She has also proven that she will not be cowed by massive political pressure to abdicate her principles. Omar stands at the intersection of almost all the things that Trump directs his minions to revile.

… Omar’s grace also gets under their skin … writing: “I am where I belong, at the people’s house and you’re just gonna have to deal!” …[or] Maya Angelou: “You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise.”49

Omar’s responses exemplify her courage – a mob is always mindless, cowardly and bullying. In her 1981 chart Ilhan Omar has warrior Mars in Leo, conjunct the fixed star Merak – the companion to the other pointer star Dubhe, mentioned earlier:

“Then the energy of the Pointer furthest from the Pole Star [Merak] begins to make its presence felt and a sense of right direction or guidance is registered by the disciple upon the Path, and such guidance (when followed) leads [wo]man nearer to the Hierarchy. It is here that the divine necessity of achieving alignment is portrayed for us in the symbolism of the sky and when it has been achieved then there is a direct inflow of divine energy and man is linked up in a new and creative manner to sources of divine supply. Astrologers will do well (in connection with the horoscopes of disciples and particularly of initiates) to consider the two Pointers and the Pole Star.”50

Ilhan Omar’s birthtime is unknown, but she could be certainly assigned an “honorary” Leo rising for her courage, leadership and criticism of various individuals and nations. Omar’s birth year is also in question (1982 instead of 1981), but in the 1981 chart she has Mars in Leo conjunct Merak, giving her a “sense of right direction or guidance”.

Mars squares her Venus in Scorpio (which Mars rules), giving her an unique charisma and power. She was born in Somalia, one of whose symbols is the lion – or leopards. Omar has a strong sense of justice with four placements in Libra, combined with strong placements in Scorpio, particularly Mercury – which takes no prisoners in her scathing criticism. Moon-Neptune in Sagittarius also indicates her high idealism and vision.

It is ironic that the capital Mogadishu was the scene of the propaganda film, Black Hawk Down – which occurred on October 3-4, 1993 – Omar’s 13^th birthday. At this time she had relocated one year earlier (1992) to New York City. Hence the irony of Trump and his childish “send her back” mantra – Omar endured four years of refugee camps in the 1980’s with thousands of others, displaced by the war in Somalia – the causes of which are discussed in this academic study of propaganda, from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania:

“From the late 1970s until just before Siad Barre’s overthrow in early 1991, the U.S. sent hundreds of millions of dollars of arms to Somalia in return for the use of military facilities which had been originally constructed for the Soviets. These bases were to be used to support American military intervention in the Middle East.

The consequences of U.S. military support for the Barre regime on the Somali people was deemed of little importance by American policymakers. The U.S. government ignored warnings throughout the 1980’s by Africa specialists, human rights groups and humanitarian organizations that continued American aid to the dictatorial government of Siad Barre would eventually plunge Somalia into chaos.

These predictions proved tragically accurate. During the nearly fifteen years of support by the United States and Italy, thousands of civilians were massacred at the hands of Barre’s increasingly authoritarian regime … To help maintain his grip on power, Barre played different Somali clans against each other, sowing the seeds of the fratricidal chaos to come, which in turn would contribute to mass starvation and spur the ill-fated humanitarian intervention by the United States in 1992.”51

Curiously, when the composite horosocope is calculated for the four women of “The Squad”, their combined Mars is also in Leo (conjunct Dubhe!) – whose Sabian Symbol reads, “Sunshine just after a storm.” Like Omar’s natal horoscope with a Libran sun, The Squad also has the composite Sun in Libra, with moon in Aries opposite Pluto in Libra – a formidable combination! There is also a tight T-square between Neptune in Sagittarius opposite Jupiter in Gemini – T-square to Saturn in Virgo. May all these elected congresswomen prevail in there labours of national service.

Stockhausen and Sirius
August 22 was the anniversary of the birth of late German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. In his horoscope, Pluto is conjunct Sirius and he is a “double Leo” – Leo rising, with the Sun conjunct other-worldly Neptune and the fixed star Regulus – a great combination for an avante-garde composer. Note also offbeat or eccentric Uranus on the midheaven trine his Leo ascendant.

“The influences of Sirius, three in number, are focussed in Regulus, which is, as you know, a star of the first magnitude and which is frequently called “the heart of the Lion.””52 On the subject of the star Sirius, Stockhausen made his controversial comments,

“I came from a planet orbiting the star Sirius, and completed my musical education there. I was educated at Sirius and want to return to there. I was put on earth to give voice to a cosmic music that will change the world.” (A classic Leonine pronouncement!) Musicians who cite Stockhausen as an influence include Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Frank Zappa, Pete Townshend, Brian Eno, The Beatles, Roger Waters, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Kraftwerk and Björk.

Stockhausen’s musical composition Sirius,53 has been described as “a modern mystery play, clothed as a science fiction story … a musical drama, in which four emissaries from a planet orbiting the star Sirius bring a message to earth.” There is plenty of astrology in this long operatic piece as well. But be warned, it ain’t no Stevie Ray Vaughan or Mozart – this “music” is not unlike listening to cacophonous Tibetan trumpets though it is much more than that if you go beyond resistances and reactions; great for the breakdown of the lower mind and to consider some different frequencies!

Stockhausen said that, for beings from the planets of the Sirius system, “everything is music, or the art of co-ordination and harmony of vibrations. . . . The art is very highly developed there, and every composition on Sirius is related to the rhythms of nature . . . the seasons, the rhythms of the stars.” Stockhausen’s composition is based on “the cycles and rhythms of nature—of the seasons—with all of their characteristics, and to the planets, animals, and to the twelve main characters of human beings” – the zodiac signs.

“Other snippets of vitally important information then came to me through a couple of revelatory dreams. Sirius is Number 43 in the composer’s catalog of works, and consists of three main parts: “Presentation”, “The Wheel” (subdivided into four sections, corresponding to the four seasons), and “Annunciation”. The musical material consists of the twelve zodiac melodies of Tierkreis.

Stockhausen “read many of the published writings by the Indian teacher, Sri Aurobindo. The title of Licht owes something to Aurobindo’s theory of “Agni” (the Hindu and Vedic fire deity), developed from two basic premises of nuclear physics. Stockhausen’s definition of a formula and, especially, his conception of the Licht superformula, also owes a great deal to Sri Aurobindo’s category of the “supramental”.” Aurobindo himself was also a double Leo with the addition of Jupiter – a veritable lion of Bengal.

Woodstock: A Leo-Aquarius, Sirian Event
August 15, 2019 saw the 50^th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival, originally billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: Three Days of Peace and Music.” Woodstock was a global phenomena that inspired millions; it was part of the late 1960’s cultural revolution and the Vietnam war.

A late switch of venue meant that the organisers had to work frantically for four weeks prior to August 15, 1969 to prepare a new site. This period encompassed the Leo full moon on July 27 and the Leo new moon on August 13 – the date when 50,000 early attendees turned up to camp near the stage – that was still being built!

Aquarius is the polar opposite of Leo, representing community, co-operation and group work. All those factors were outstanding features of the sometimes chaotic state of the festival with regard to medical emergencies and the food supply running out. But many volunteers stepped in to help out and local donations of food fed the hungry.

Over the two day period from the new moon to the start of the festival on August 15, transiting Venus conjoined Sirius exactly. Venus has a close relationship to Sirius through its function as a transmitter of energy from cosmic mind to an expression of Love-Wisdom within the solar system.

In the not-too-distant future, the month of Leo will be dedicated to invoking the energy of Sirius, the “higher self” to our solar system. The theme of Sirius is that of liberation and freedom. Richie Havens kicked off the festival music on August 15 at 5.07 pm with a passionate, improvised rendition of “Freedom”. Just after Havens’ performance, Sri Swami Satchidananda opened the festival, offering prayer and mantra, addressing a crowd of over 400,000:

“My Beloved Brothers and Sisters: I am overwhelmed with joy to see the entire youth of America gathered here in the name of the fine art of music. In fact, through the music, we can work wonders. Music is a celestial sound and it is the sound that controls the whole universe, not atomic vibrations. Sound energy, sound power, is much, much greater than any other power in this world.

And, one thing I would very much wish you all to remember is that with sound, we can make—and at the same time, break. Even in the war-field, to make the tender heart an animal, sound is used. Without that war band, that terrific sound, man will not become animal to kill his own brethren. So, that proves that you can break with sound, and if we care, we can make also.”

The horoscope is based upon 3.24 pm when the first announcement was made to the crowd that musicians were stuck in traffic and that the concert would be delayed. The 3.24 pm Sagittarius rising chart has Mars on the ascendant with Jupiter and Uranus on the midheaven. Regardless of which rising sign is correct, there are several outstanding  factors in this horoscope:

1. The concert was finalised and began over the Leo-Sirius period – through the full moon to the Leo new moon, seed of new beginnings.

2. Venus was conjunct Sirius.

3. The Aquarian polarity of Leo was emphasised.

4. The exoteric and esoteric rulers of Aquarius were conjunct in Libra – Uranus and Jupiter. Libra the sign of right relations. Uranus as esoteric ruler of Libra and the seventh ray of organisation, or Ceremonial Order, whose cycle will span the imminent Aquarian cycle of over 2,000 years. Jupiter, the ruler of the second ray of love-wisdom – presiding over a festival of “peace and love”.

5. Sun in Leo square to Neptune in Scorpio. Neptune rules music and Scorpio is “sex and drugs and rock and roll”!

“Neptune in Scorpio had a potent influence in dissolving old sexual mores, and encouraging a penetrating and adventurous investigation into sex. Neptune rules mind-altering substances that stimulate mystical visions, which can account for that period’s widespread use of cannabis, LSD and other psychedelics. [Continued]

The latest documentary, Woodstock: Three Days That Defined a Generation – is an eye-opening look at how the concert was organised by a group of people in their mid-20’s who had some high ideals and visions – well worth a look. It is also worth bearing in mind that on this 50^th anniversary that Sirius B travels in an eliptical orbit around Sirius A, every 50 years!

Obituary: Marion Leigh – Founder of Findhorn Essences
This newsletter is dedicated to my dear friend and co-worker Marion Leigh, who passed on July 3. Marion was born in Sydney, Australia and has been living at Findhorn, Scotland for several decades. In 1992 she founded the Findhorn Essences  – “developed in the heart of Findhorn following the disciplines of co-creation with nature, and produced in accordance with Dr. Edward Bach’s original instructions and guidelines.” Marion worked as a healer and consultant, traveling to many parts of the world presenting seminars. She will be remembered for her generosity and Aussie good humour – and will be sorely missed!
